REVIEW: MOROCCAN OIL SEVEN WONDERS RANGE

A couple of months ago, I did a preview/introduction about Seven Wonders HERE. After trial-ing it for a month and a half, it's time for a more detailed review. Please note that I did not use these products throughout the entire month and a half. I did switch between products and did some mix and match (for instances, use both the shampoo and conditioner without the treatment or use other shampoo and conditioner with the treatment....)

Just a quick recap, SEVEN WONDERS is an Australian owned natural hair care brand offering all natural, salon grade styling products, treatments and shampoos and conditioners. All products are made using organic ingredients and are chemical free. The Moroccan Treatment range is Seven Wonders newest addition.

WHAT I THINK OF THESE PRODUCTS:

Moroccan Oil Shampoo: It doesn't "bubble up" like most shampoos when applied. It has some kind of masculine smell, which I am definitely not a fan of. This product has thicker consistency than normal shampoo - picture gluey and probably need more product to do the job.

Moroccan Oil Conditioner: When applied during shower, this product did not untangle my hair nor did my hair feel softer when I run my fingers through my hair. However, I do feel the difference after blowdrying my hair. In another words, it provides more of an after effect.

Moroccan Oil Treatment: I apply approximately 50cent coin worth of product on my wet hair after shower, before blowing dry. My hair feels really light and bouncy the next day, not to mention extremely soft too! This is probably the only product out of three that I would consider repurchase. I have tried this products with and without using the Moroccan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner and it works perfectly fine either way. They are not mutually exclusive. In another words, you don't have to use their Shampoo and Conditioner in order for the Moroccan Oil Treatment to work. :)

Will I repurchase?

Both my TRESemmé shampoo and conditioner probably do the same job, if not better, than the Moroccan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. Not to mention, cheaper too. I usually grab mine during specials, at $4.95 for a massive bottle. For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while should know that I am big on products that smell good. Hence, any hair products that do not smell good automatically have a couple of points taken off. So, its highly unlikely that I will repurchase the shampoo and conditioner unless there's an improved formula. The Moroccan Oil Treatment, on the other hand, is probably the only product I will consider repurchase as my hair did feel nice and soft the next day.

Here are some information that might help you if you wish to try Seven Wonders Moroccan Oil Range:

RRP: $34.95 for 125mL Moroccan Oil Treatment

The Seven Wonders Moroccan Oil Range is available at health food stores and pharmacies nation wide, or www.sevenwonders.com.au for a full list of stockists.

Have you tried any of the Seven Wonders Moroccan Oil Range products?
Yay or nay?

HAIRSPRAY OPENING NIGHT SYDNEY [23.06.2011]

Hello lovelies!!!

What's crackin'? Hope you are enjoying your weekend so far! Weather has been nothing but lovely here in Sydney and I am enjoying my last couple of remaining free weekends before I am back to becoming the slave to CA again.

ANYHOOS,

I was lucky to be invited to The Opening Night of Hairspray in Sydney and the after party last Thursday, thanks to Sweaty Betty PR!!!

You have no idea how excited I was when I received this invitation in the mail on Monday! Firstly, I have never been to a musical ever; secondly, I have heard heaps of good reviews about Hairspray and of course, Sweaty Betty PR organises one of the best events in town! I had such a fun time in the Australia Best Hair 2011 event (which I am yet to blog about... ooops), I know that this was gonna be as good, if not better.

More photos after the break. :)

HAIR EXPO 2011

So, it was all about the make up yesterday. Today, the post will give you a better insight into Hair Expo 2011 that happened during the long weekend!

Also, by no means I am a hair expert, in fact, I am still an amateur when it comes to hair related stuff.  This was my first time attending Hair Expo and it was definitely a big eye opener and it was way better than expected as they had quite a few beauty stands such as Eco Tools and Napolean Perdis.

A big thank you to Maxted Thomas for the media pass, which provided be access to media lounges (which serves coffee, champers and tarts! <3)! And most importantly, Rae Morris Look & Learn Workshop!  :)

Find out who's my "plus one" for the Hair Expo, more about Original MineralGHD, Moroccan Oil, HEAPS AND HEAPS of photos after the break :)

FOTD - UD Black Palette + Rated "R"

Hello lovelies!!!

Sorry it has been a while and my apologies for the unannounced hiatus once again. The initial plan of multi-posting during the long weekend did not happen as I was busy celebrating (that I passed my FIRST CA module, which is apparently the hardest technical module too!), catching up with friends and attended Hair Expo 2011! My long weekend went by so quickly and before I knew it, bam, it's the start of the week again and bam again, it's the weekend! :) It's SO GOOD to have the sun back after 2 miserable weeks of rain in Sydney! :)

BTW, I finally got myself a new camera - a Canon IXUS 220 as reward for passing my FIN module. I can now take awesome FOTD photos without having to snap 42893429734892 times to get one which is decently not over exposed and out of focus. *win* That also means constant adjustment of lightings such as auto contrasting is no longer required! *double win*

ANYHOOS, I am gonna stop babbling on random stuff (like I always do =.=") and move on to the serious stuff. :)

My EOTD for Hair Expo 2011 last Monday. :)

More photos and step-by-step instruction after the break.

SWATCHES : BOURJOIS BLUSHES AND BRONZING POWDER

This random Priceline haul was one of the many backlogged posts waiting to be caught up. However, when I saw Jade's twitter update about Priceline having 50% off  Bourjois (pronounced as bur-jur) products, I thought I'd share with you guys my purchase from Priceline a couple of weeks ago and some swatches. Hopefully, it will help you lovelies to make some decisions when deciding which items to splurge on. :)

Bourjois Bronzing Powder , Bourjois blushes and Formula 10.0.6 Down to the Pore strips

Priceline were having 20% off when I purchased this products and I thought it was a pretty good deal. Should have waited a little longer and I will be able to grab more blushes! LOL #beautyhoarder

Bourjois Bronzing Powder in 52 (the darker of the 2 shades available)

I have been wanting to try this product for quite some time after all the good reviews I read about. Quick thoughts on this product - it was less pigmented than I'd like it to be but its not too bad as a winter contouring colour as I am as pasty as Snow White now. However, this is definitely not a summer bronzer.

L-R: Bourjois Eyeshadow in 08 (used as highlighter), Rose Coup De Foudre 16, Rose Ambre 74 and Lilas D'or 33

As you can tell, these blushes aren't the most pigmented blushes you have but they are definitely buildable! :)

Eyeshadow 08 - I have been looking for a replacement for my MAC MSF in Candlelight as I can spot the obvious usage of Candlelight and the last thing I want is to hit pan with my limited edition product. I was meant to pick up the highlighter from the blush range but the Priceline in Westfield Sydney ran out of stock and the one on Market Street seems pretty old. So, I decided to go with this champagne coloured eyeshadow instead, which surprisingly works pretty well as a highlighter. Always look for options, girls. :)

Rose Coup De Foudre 16 - This reminds me of NARS Orgasm when I first swatted it albeit I am not a lucky owner of NARS Orgasm.

Rose Ambre 74 - A matte berry pink colour, which is probably the most pigmented of all three blushes. I  find myself reaching for this colour when I have heavier eye make up. Kids, make up tip 101, you don't want to look like with a party shimmer ball with epic make up and shinny cheeks.

Lilas D'or 33 - This reminds me of NARS Orgasm when I first swatted it albeit I am not a lucky owner of NARS Orgasm. To those of you who own NARS Orgasm, do you reckon this is a great dupe? Definitely my favourite out of the loot. :)

All blushes come with a mini brush, which I obviously chucked a side cos well, I prefer to use a blush brush.

I am wearing here Lilas D'or 33 :)

Loving this Combo atm :)
On my EYES - Wet and Wild Colour Icon Palette in Vanity
On my LIPS - Barry M Lipstick in 146
(After going through a phase of darker lip colour such as berry pink/plum, I am now into Bubblegum pink colour. Barry M Lipstick in 146 and BYS Longwear Lipstick in Baby Doll)

With natural light.

I hope these swatches help those of you who are having a hard time deciding which colours to choose from the range of gorgeous colours. :)

To all my Australian readers, don't forget that Priceline is having 50% off Bourjois products from 8th - 20th June. :)

Have you tried any of Bourjois blushes or bronzing powder?
Which is your favourite colour? Any recommendations?

REVIEW: MODIVA PROFESSIONAL 25MM CURLING IRON

Having your head shaved thrice when you were a kid is the main culprit of the extremely frizzy and curly (completely opposite end of sexy on the curls scale) hair, which dishevelled is the only word I can use to describe. Thank god for the chemical hair straightening technology, also known as rebonding in Asia which keeps my hair way more manageable and without looking like a lion run wild on the street.

I have rebonded my hair yearly, since 2002. Photo was taken in late 2008.
That being said, I haven't exactly been into curls or wavy hair until the past couple of months, even when my hair was at its longest length, approximately 3 years ago! I have been rocking bob to medium length hair the past 2 years. I mean, I pay to get my curly hair chemically straightened, it doesn't make much sense to curl them again. Also, I have been into the uberly straight and flat hair for the longest time until lately.

I have been wanting to curl my hair for quite some time but never really gotten into doing it besides the occasional oooohhh-ahhhhhh and envy while drooling over (not literally, or course) celebrities with sexy curls or waves. One of the reasons was because curls never last on my hair, which is fair enough considering that my hair has been chemically induced to stay straight.

Therefore, when Elizabeth from Modiva contacted me and asked if I wanted to try Modiva Professional 25mm Curling Iron, it was almost an instant yes from me as I thought this would be a great opportunity to finally rock the curls-look.

Honestly speaking, I wasn't expecting much from Modiva as there are SO MANY different brands and types of curling irons in the market which aren't too bad but weren't great either unless you splurge on a GHD or something equivalent. The fact that their website isn't as "prettified" as some of the other hair products websites isn't exactly helping either. Yes, pretty sites catch my attention despite being WAY over 5 years old. :P

HOWEVER, I am completely blown away by this baby here, wrapped in a black box with pink interior.

I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING!

Black stick........

Wrapped in a sleek black box with pink interior............

(I apologize in advance if I have any U18 readers here. You may skip this part and scroll down for more pictures. :P)

It resembles a you know what... Pink rabbit as what they called it in Sex And The City. :P You should have seen the look of my colleagues when I whipped the Modiva Professional 25mm Curling Iron out during Friday night drinks for them to try out. As if I would of have things like that delivered to work. Not saying I have ordered!

A brief description of the product.

HOW-TO?

Turn it on, wait for it to heat up and wrap your hair around the curling iron and hold for 20-30seconds (depending on how tight you want the curls to be) and voila!

It comes with a glove which you're meant to put on while curling your hair to prevent yourself from getting burnt but I was a tad lazy while taking this photo. My bad.

A couple of photos of the final result:
My Saturday Night Hair Do

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS PRODUCT:

If I were to describe this product in one word, it would be AMAZING

Simply because :-
* Its easy to use
(No clipping your hair in between the thong and all that bs)
* It doesn't apply direct heat to your hair like what curling your hair with a straightener does.
* Quick
(I was pretty surprised that I am able to curl my hair within 10 minutes consider how thick my hair is)
*Long lasting curls
(As mentioned before, curls doesn't last long with my chemically straightened hair but this one does, surprisingly. Photo evidence below)
*Affordable
(Retailing at $89.95, its fairly reasonable for the quality you get!)

The only setback of the Modiva Professional 25mm Curling Iron that I can think about is the fact that there's no indicator as to when the curler is heated up. However, it's not much of an issue to me as its usually ready to be used after switching it on for 5 minutes.

Here's a comparison of the before and after look, with the Schwarzkoph Magic Hair Extensions :

BEFORE:

With Schwarzkoph (I still have problem spelling this word!) Magic Hair Extensions without curling my hair. As you can tell, the top three quarter of my hair is fairly straight with the wavy ends of the extensions.

AFTER:

After curling my fringe and some of outer layer of my hair using  Modiva's 25mm Curling Iron

*This photo was taken 6 hours after I curled my hair without setting it with hair spray (as I was at work) and the curls were still going strong! Extremely impressive!*

Absolutely loving the combination of  Modiva Professional 25mm Curling Iron and Schwarzkoph Magic Hair Extensions !!!!

B.F.F. Link Love

Hey lovelies!!!

Hope you guys had a great weekend. I dread Sunday nights when the thought of going back to work struck me. I had a pretty good weekend with spending Saturday arvo with the Sydney beauty bloggers @ Parra, dinner and drinks @ Sanctuary with my girl friends and headed to the Cross after. HOWEVER, I had a little too much fun that I lost my FAVOURITE cape coat I got from ASOS not long ago. Despite the you-know-you-had-a-great-night-when-you-lost-something, I am still extremely cut over the loss of my dear coat as I really REALLY like them. :( Speaking about impulsiveness, I just placed an order with ASOS for a somewhat similar coat as replacement. Hopefully, it arrives sometime this week!

Ladies and Shoes = INSEPARABLE + Mini GIVEAWAY

The title says it all.

Well, at least to majority of the XX population.

Trust me, despite questioning myself for the 94723472934723th time on why did I spend so much on heels that I barely wear but I am too tight arse to even pay more than 30bucks on a pair of flats, which I wear almost daily, I am yet to enlighten myself.

I figured, I will never find an answer to that question, just like how you will never get an answer to whether egg or chicken comes first. And the saying goes, if you can't change it, just brace it! :P
While I have cut down significantly on spending on hot comefuckme heels and invest more on quality flats, gorgeous heels will always be my weakness.

With full time work, gyming, blogging, social life and my chartered accountant program (which is about to commence soon again) in the picture, it is a mission to find time for shopping. At a physical store at least. However, with the online retail therapy emerging so quickly, there's nothing cannot be bought at the comfort of your own home, or even couch or bed. :P

If you followed me on twitter, you would of probably known of my somewhat impulsive shopping spree from ASOS, Kit Cosmetics, Book Depository and the list goes on. Don't worry, it's all under control now. :)

This is also one of the reasons why retail group giant, Westfield introduced its ONLINE STORE with over 100 brands and retailers available. Now, the crappy wet weather is not a deterrent of your very much needed retail therapy anymore.

Needless to say, >Women > Shoes is my favourite section! <3

This is what I ordered from Westfield Online and it arrived 2 days after the order has been placed!!!! Super efficient! Some stores even offer free shipping! That's definitely a plus point to me when it comes to online shopping, which I am sure it is to all of you beauties out there too.

It looks SUPER HOT with skinny jeans and harem pants albeit the heels is a little too high, but nothing a little practice can't fix. :) I will try to take an outfit of the day with these gorgeous babies soon!!!

Ankle booties is definitely a winter staple in your wardrobe!

Before I sign off, I have a mini Facebook giveaway for my lovely Australian readers (sorry international readers!), courtesy of Westfield Online Women.

Simply head over to Through Beauty Eyes Facebook Page  , "LIKE" Through Beauty Eyes Facebook Page and leave a comment on the page letting me know what is your "must have" footwear - whether it is ankle booties, ballet flats, wedges, or even sandals. You may also upload a photo of your favourite shoes/ lemmings to share the love. :)

One lucky winner will win a $20 gift card!

Giveaway ends this Sunday, 5 June 2011, 11:59pm AEST.

What are you waiting for? Head over to Through Beauty Eyes Facebook Page and send in your entry now!
Good luck!!!
