2014 #FIFAWorldCup Inspired MakeUp #1 - Brazil

So, World Cup fever doesn’t necessarily have to revolve around the actual soccer ball (or football) itself.

 Especially for us chicas, the FIFA world cup gives us more reasons to rock bright and colourful looks during the tournament. (Not that we need any reasons to – but as I grow older, I tend to stay on the “safe side” and haven’t been exploring colourful FOTD as much as I used to do. Is it just me or are there anyone else with me? :P) 

So,after a random playtime and experiment last Friday in conjunction with the open ceromony of 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup, I decided to create this ThroughBeautyEyes 2014 FIFA World Cup Inspired Make Up series. 

This series will consist of make up based on the World Cup theme over the couse of this tournament - not neccessarily in the order of countries I support!

These are the palettes I used to create this look but feel free to make use of whatever colours you have in your stash - all you need is bright yellow, green and dark blue eyeshadows. AND of course, a very good blending blush!

STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL:
2014 #FIFAWorldCup Inspired MakeUp - Brazil 

1. After priming your eyes with a primer and set the base with a cream eyeshadow (I used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk and Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Edgy Emerald here), gently pack on the green eyeshadow on the centre of the lid, leaving out the inner and outter corner of your eyes.

2. Then, apply the dark blue eyeshadow at the outter corner of your eyes, creating a "V" shape and bringing it slightly into your crease.

3. Next, apply a bright matte yellow eyeshadow (using Illamasqua Hype from the Fundamental Palette) at the inner corner of your eyes, dragging it down to your inner tear duct area/ lower lash line.

4. BLEND, BLEND & BLEND all three colours together. You may lose some of the intensity of the colours, just go back and pack on more colours and blend it until there are no harsh lines and reached the intensity you are looking for.

5. Line your upper lash line with either a black or dark blue eyeliner and create a wing.

6. Then, line 1/3 of your bottom lash line with the same eyeliner and connect it to the wing.

7. Set the eyeliner with the same blue eyeshadow that you use on your outter V.

8. Line the middle (1/3) of your lower lash line with the green eyeshadow you used on your eyelid.

To finish off the look, apply a few generous coats of your favourite mascara (mine is Dolly Wink volume mascara - no surprises here) and to magnify the effect of this look, you may add on some falsies but I wasn't quite up for that. ;)

FOTD - Summer Favourite!

Hello lovelies!

How is everyone? Sorry for going MIA from this blog for the past week, I have been pretty naughty when it comes to blogging last week. Work and gym took most of time and I am completely exhausted at the end of the day. Also, the weather in Sydney can only be described using one word - temperamental. It can be nice and sunny one day and windy and gloomy the next. Thanks to the constant change of weather + lack of sleep (and maybe a little too much drinking), your truly is now down with a cold, which really sucks huge elephant balls! I am trying to get well before next Thursday as it is my Company's Christmas Party and I am off to Malaysia and Singapore for a week on Friday! (Shopping and FOOD, momma is coming to you!) I will be meeting up with a few bloggers while I am in Singapore too. (take a guess? =P) CAN'T WAIT! =)

ANYWAYS, nonsensical ramblings aside and lets move on to my favourite summer look. :)

This look is extremely easy to create and fail proof - perfecto for summer.

I have been wearing this look to work lately too because 1) I am too lazy to get creative in the morning and 2) I start sweating after the 15 minutes walk to the station and the last thing I want is a melting make up face. 

MY SUMMER ESSENTIALS / FAVOURITE PRODUCTS:

These are the products that I have been using alot lately. I just realised I forgotten to include all the eye products I used - EPIC FAIL!

I don't usually use my MAC Super Slick Liquid Liner in blue - I was just exceptionally lazy on the day I took these photos and couldn't be bothered using a brush to apply my favourite gel liner - Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner (which I heard is coming to Australia next year?). Yes, I can be that lazy. =.="

As for the blushes, I am currently into peachy coloured blush. I have been swapping around between ELF Powder Blush in Peachy Keen, Maybelline Mineral Blush in True Peach and my all time favourite MAC MSF Blush in Stereo Rose (which is more of a coral colour than peach).

For highlighters, I have been using my MAC MSF in Candlelight alot lately instead of my all time favourite Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether as it gives me that natural glow without being too shimmery. As much as I LOVE my powdered metal to bits, I really don't wanna sweat shimmer bits in this weather. My Benefit Girls Meet Pearl highlighter (as pictured above) is another awesome but neglected product which finally gets to see daylight again last week. I am such a bad owner sometimes lol. 

And for bronzers, I have been swapping between Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City and ELF Warm Bronzing Powder, which is such a disappointment I must say. It is SUPER chalky its not even funny but since I paid a "premium price" (Australia and their taxes) for it, I am trying to use it just so I don't feel bad. =/

FOTD - Neutral Pop ft Milani Liquif'eye in Aqua

As mentioned in this post, Pixie Epoxy didn't work that well with the Fyrinnae Loose Shadows for me. I have yet to do my research on youtube but one of my readers left a comment saying I shouldn't leave it on for more than 5 seconds. I am yet to try out as I am into bold lips at the moment, hence toning down on my eyes make up. 

This time, I decided to try Fyrinnae Loose Shadows with NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil as a base. I am using Cottage Cheese here along with Nijiro. I decided to gently pat the product on one eye and brush the product on another and here is the outcome: 

By BRUSHING

As you can tell from the photo, the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil didn't catch much of the products and its kinda lumpy.

On the contrary, the loose eyeshadow was captured better through the patting motion. Way better in fact and there's no lumpy effect. There are more fallouts than brushing though. Albeit the colour is much more pigmented here, you can't really see the shimmer sparkle bits here.

However, it does seems pretty shimmery and bright with the completed eye look, whaddaya think?

Neutral "POP" eyes :) 

Decided to add a little "flavour" to the typical earthy neutral smokey eyes by lining my lower lash line with an Aqua Blue liner.

FOTD - Geisha

Hi lovelies,

I have been lovin' the neutral eyes, bold lips look lately, ever since I have received my Milani Color Perfect lipsticks (in Rose Hip and Mandarina) from my Cherry Culture haul. They are both GORGEOUS colours and they are priced at a mere U$4.99, still pretty inexpensive after taking into account shipping and exchange rate. The colours are super pigmented too. Will do a more detailed review soon. I am absolutely in love with them, especially Rose Hip! It reminds me of Petals and Peacocks from MAC Liberty of London range, which I didn't have the "honour" of owning it as I can't justify myself to pay A$41 for a lipstick, even if its limited edition and the colour is freakin' gorgeous!

Anyways, as the title suggests for this post - this look is geisha inspired. It was kinda unintentional too. By that, I meant I was simply planning to try out my new Mandarina lipstick without the ghostly white geisha face to match with it. Little did I know that whipping out my BioEssence BB Cream which I conveniently ignored most of the time made me look extremely white (and gross) compared to my favourite Etude House Magic BB Cream which gives me that dewy, natural glow. . That's probably why I barely reach out for it. =.=" You will probably get what I mean in the photos below.

Since Mandarina is a bold colour, I did like to keep all attention on my lips and go with a neutral eye make up.

The usual champagne and brown colour - which is one of my favourite combinations. =)

Really not liking how pale I look after applying the BB cream but I guess it results in the "geisha effect" with the lip colour.

FOTD - Seductive Brownie ft EyeRockz

My thoughts on this product:
Packaging (5/5): The eyeshadows come taped up to prevent any spillage and it is nicely labeled at the top of each jar.  Extra brownie points for pink pouch =)
Product (4/5): Very SOFT and fine. I was surprised at how soft these eyeshadows are compared to the other pigments that I own (which are mainly from the drugstores, such as Barry M). I really like the texture of it.
Pigmentation (3/5) : Although Eye Rockz mineral eyeshadows has relatively good pigmentation, but it is definitely not the most pigmented eyeshadows I have used. It might be due to the natural ingredient used. However, the intensity is definitely build-able. ( I reckon the pigmentation would probably be better with NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils too but I have yet to try that out. Will let you guys know once I do =P)
Lasting Power (5/5): Lasted all day without creasing even though I did not use a primer. (Note: I have dry and sensitive skin, so the outcome by differ depending on your skin type)

Review: Physicians Formula Baked Collection - Baked Spices

This is my first proper product review on TBE although I did "briefly" review a few products which I used in my FOTDs. I don't really have any particular review style in mind as of yet, so I am just gonna write as I go.

"These revolutionary eyeshadows are actually baked on genuine Italian terracotta tiles, creating the ultimate versatile formula. Use "dry" for sheer colours and "wet" for absolute dramatic and long lasting colours. Colourful trio provides infinite combinations to define, accent and line the eyes fora sexy, sophisticated look. Silky, powder formula glides on easily and lasts all day or night when applied with water. Can be used on all skin types."

As you can see from the fingers swatches above, the colours look pretty pigmented. That was my first impression to when I swatched it at Priceline.

The colour was no where near pigmented when swatched on my skin and it took me at least 3-4 applications before the colours actually appear and even so, its wasn't at all impressive. The colours do appear better when applied with a wet brush, but nothing too dramatic as stated on the description.

Now, moving on to my ratings on:

Packaging

4/5 - Its nothing over the top but I like how it is small and compact, and will definitely fit into my make up bag. The packaging also contribute to my purchase as I was looking for a neutral eyeshadows quad/trio as most of my neutral colours are either massive palettes or they are single eyeshadows, not exactly ideal at times when you want to travel light. It also comes with a double tip applicator - one for eyeshadow application, another is to use it as an eyeliner brush.

Product

2/5 - For someone who has exceptionally dry skin, my eyeshadow barely creases, especially during winter. Of course, its a whole different story when I am out dancing/clubbing and am sweating profusely. However, this product started creasing 2 hours after application. Hence, I beg to differ in relations to "lasts all day or night when apply with water",as stated in the description. I tried this product for the very first time without using any primer, just a cream eyeshadow (ELF Duo Creme Eyeshadow in Butter Scotch) as base (like what I do most of the times and never really had a problem with it.) To my horror, most of the colour on the inner corner of my lid creased completely by the time I got to work. You can pretty much see my bare lids with a smokey outer corner. =.=" I didn't want to sentence this product to "death" only after one use, so I decided to give it another try next day and this time, I applied BOTH primer AND eyeshadow base (Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow in Coral Me Wild) and the same thing happened. =.="

This is how it looks like after 8 hours. However, this photo doesn't really illustrate much due to the lighting but the inner corner of my lid is pretty much eyeshadow-less.

This is how my make up looks like after 11 hours and all I used was MAC Bare Study Paint Pot without any primer. Let you be the judge yourself =P

It might be due to the reason that I applied eye creme before my matte powder,primer and base but I highly doubt so as I don't have such problems with other eyeshadows. This is enough to put me off using this trio for a while. Who knows, I might rediscover its "hidden beauty" in a few months time, just like how I did with my Revlon Mineral Eyeshadow. Definitely not anytime soon though.

Price

5/5 - I got this when Priceline was having a promotion - 50% off all Physical Formula's products. So, it worked out to be around $9.95 after discount, pretty decent for Australian drugstore products. (I mean, one Maybelline eyeshadow quad here costs A$14.95. Gay, I know.)

That's pretty much it for my review. Hope you guys find it helpful and sorry if its not detailed/informative enough for you guys as this is my first review. Let me know if there's anything that you think I can improve on in terms of my review. =P
