PRODUCTS I LOVE #2: SPRING EDITION

It has been a good 3 months since my last #ProductsILove post and now that winter is over, weather has turned warmer, me thinks its time for an updated edition since we use different products based on different season, no?

HERE are a few of my favourite products that I have tried and tested recently:

Face of Australia Budge Proof Eyeshadows

TOP L-R: Emerald Tears, Poison Ivy, Bling Bling
BOTTOM L-R: Violet Rays, Bronze Sphinkx

L - R: Emerald Tears, Poison Ivy, Bling Bling, Violet Rays & Bronze Sphinx

FAVOURITES of the loot are: Violet Rays & Bronze Sphinx.

Violet Rays made smokey eyes a whole lot more wearable - I have been wearing this smokey eyes till the past 2 weeks or so ever since I have mastered my "perfect" day smokey eyes. Simply apply Violet Rays all over your lids and apply a matte brown/ coffee eyeshadow to the outer corner of your lids and halfway through your crease to blend the harsh lines out. VOILA - smokey eyes in less than 5 minutes.

Bronze Sphinx is my new to-go-to colour as the weather gets warmer. I don't know about you but I try to keep my make up to the bare minimum (as possible) during the warmer months. On the good days, I go completely sans eyeshadow. However, when I feel the need to have some colours on my eyelids, this is the baby to go to. I either wear it on its own, or add some dark brown eyeshadow to the outer corner of my lids & halfway through my crease for a more defined look. Another winner in my books.

Neutrogena Beach Defence Water & Barrier Lotion and Spray SPF 50

This new sunscreen range from Neutrogena is god sent for summer - especially with the scorching one we're expecting! Whilst I'm a HUGE fan of tanning, I am a massive sun screen freaks too. Can't really turn a blind eye when you have Skin Cancer ads poppin up left, right, centre! (Good work, NSW gov on your skin cancer campaign!)

Neutrogena Beach Defence Water & Barrier Lotion - This is definitely my beach essential this summer - 4 hour after resistant, rich but non sticky & smells good. Need I say more?

Neutrogena Beach Defence Water & Barrier Spray - Personally, I think slathering sunscreen on a daily basis takes too much effort especially in the morning. PLUS, it feels wrong putting on work clothes after applying sunscreen. No? This sunscreen spray is made for lazy bums like me and it's SO convenient. I spray on before I leave for work and even have a can on my desk at work for some "touch up" if I decide to get some Vitamin D at Hyde Park during my lunch break. Convenience at its best and I can tan without guilt!

Just in case you haven't already picked it up, I am quite lazy and anything that saves me time gets extra brownie points :P

Face of Australia BB Cream in Medium to Dark

Spring & summertime calls for au naturale make up. The last thing you want is having your cakeface melting under the 30 degrees weather. Whilst I still use heavier coverage foundation for night outs and events, I try to keep it simple during my day-to-day routine and this BB cream has been a recent favourite for me.

Like most BB creams do, it provides pretty sheer coverage. However, you are able to build it up slightly by applying a second layer. (This is kinda defeating the purpose of avoiding cakeface, right?) At less than $15 a pop, this will be one of my summer go-tos. The only drawback about this BB cream is it does not have any SPFs so PLEASE remember to apply sunscreen prior to applying this!

Marc Jacob Honey Perfume

As someone who loves florals and fruity scent, this is another winner from the Marc Jacobs fragrance collection. It's less floral-y than Daisy & not as sweet as Dots - perfect summer day scent.

MUK Curl Stick

For those of you who don't know, my hair has been chemically strengtened (Japanese straightening) for the past 12 years (holy shit, it's almost a decade!). Ain't no normal curler is gonna make my curls stay! So, when I got the chance to try this out, I jumped right straight into it! Coming in 3 different sized wands and 3 adjustable temperature (perfect for those with finer hair and don't want to kill your hair under high temperature), seems like a great deal to me. I have only used the large barrel so far as I have fairly thick hair but it creates long-lasting curls for me that holds throughout the day! SOLD.

Whilst I have YET to perfect soft curls I love, I think I am getting there. :P Next up, to get the summer "effortless" beach waves. Hello Sea Salt Spray, you are gonna be my best friend!

These are my current FAVs which I have been reaching out to heaps!
I will dedicate a post to my fav spring/ summer lip products, because, lippies totes need a post on their own.

Have you tried any of the products above?
If not, what are your current favourites?

ETUDE HOUSE MAGIC BB CREAM REVIEW

So, what exactly those BB Cream stands for?
Why is it BB and not CC and not DD or ZZ? (Ok, not funny =.=")

According to my good friend Google, double B stands for Blemish Balm and it is extremely popular in Asia and is starting to gain some attention in the Western countries lately too.
It was formulated to be an all in one foundation, sunscreen and moisturizer. Apparently, it all started with a Korean actress who had undergone laser surgery. Your skin is thinned and needs heaps of protection from the sun after surgery but foundation is apparently one of the staple product for most women (not for me!). Hence, the birth of BB cream which works as a foundation, sunscreen and moisturizer.

Okay.
Let's just say I am quite a consumer whore in the sense that I tend to buy things because "so and so say is good" or because "I have read heaps of good review about it" or simply because "its such a hyped up/ IN product at the moment". Only to a certain extent though. I haven't bought NARS Sheer Foundation nor Smashbox Face Primer =P
Hence, when I bought my first BB cream - Etude House Magic BB Cream, I didn't know what's so good about BB Cream and all I knew was apparently Asians love BB Cream.
And guess what? The Asian in me managed to convince myself to purchase not one but TWO tubes of Etude House BB Magic Cream when I knew nothing about that product, simply because it was on 50% off.
That makes it RM39.95 for TWO tubes, that's approximately A$13 - which is a friggin' awesome deal!!!

ETUDE HOUSE BB MAGIC CREAM (Moisturising)
But fret not, that was definitely one of my best purchases so far! I love how easy it is to apply and it provides me with pretty good coverage without suffocating my skin! It even made it to one of my JUNE favourites! :)

What Etude House says:
" BB Magic Cream offers natural looking coverage that nourishes, corrects skin tone and protects against sun damage."

Directions:

After facial cleansing, apply a small amount of product to hands and spread evenly across facial surface. Cream may give a whitish appearance upon initial application and will naturally blend with skin tone once lotion sets.

BEFORE -  my naked face , hence the uneven skin tone & dark circles.
(I did however apply toner, moisturizer and suncreen prior to taking this photo)

I wear this on an almost daily basis, except the days where I am home (d'uh) or during night outings, in which I will replace it with Revlon PhotoReady Liquid Foundation.

I usually pump a tiny pump (about pea size) before applying it across my face.

Lightly blended out.

Fully blended out.

AFTER applying Etude House Magic BB Cream

As I have dry and sensitive skin, my main problems are mainly uneven skin tone (redness) and under eyes dark circle. I would say that Etude House Magic BB Cream did a pretty good job in terms of coverage and it gives a dewy, natural glow after applying it. On the days where I am rushing for time, I could just use a lil extra to provide better coverage for my undereye circles without having to use a concealer.

PROS:
* Provide sufficient coverage - sheer to medium ( I know many people find the coverage too light but I reckon it works just fine for me)
* Long staying power
* Light weight (It doesn't feel like its suffocating my skin after wearing it for long hours as compared to Revlon PhotoReady Foundation)
* It gives a natural, dewy glow & a flawless finish :)
* Inexpensive ( Come on, A$13 for TWO tubes? They last for ages too! I have been using mine since last December and its still not finished :D)
* Convenient ( Blend perfectly without having to use a brush)

CONS:
* The pump ( It's get's a little messy sometimes)
* Only one shade available (which isn't really a problem for me as I have pretty Asian skin, ie fair)

RATING: 5/5
There's nothing much for me to complain about this product besides the pump (which is not much of a biggie to me!)
Will I repurchase it?
Not at the moment as I have another brand new tube, which is probably enough to last me another year or so. And, I really wanna try out Skin 79 BB Cream that has been raved by alot of beauty bloggers out there.

I hope that my make up less face did not scare the shit out of you guys. =/

I hope this review is helpful to those of you out there who has been wanting to try BB cream but is unsure of what exactly BB cream is and which brand to choose from. =P

ARE YOU A FAN OF BB CREAM? WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BRAND?
