REVIEW: CIRCLE LENSES PART 1 - EOS J203 ADULT GREEN

If you have been following Through Beauty Eyes for a while, you would have probably noticed that I am not a fanatic circle lenses lover. Whilst I enjoy spicing up the look with some colour lenses or getting cheap thrill of looking like a gyaru with those circle lenses and falsies, I don't wear them on a daily basis. Firstly, most toric lenses designs are rather boring and simple compared to the non-toric ones. Secondly, I find it a tad over the top for my liking for everyday use. It's just personal preference here, really.

However, circle lenses are almost a staple in special events such as Christmas party, launches or even a Friday night out. I used to wear circle lenses to work on Friday as I am always out after work, but its less frequent now as my 2 of favourite lenses (courtesy of Kiwiberry) weren't my exact prescription. :(

I will be reviewing EOS J203 Adult Green today and EOS G201 Max Pure Grey will be coming up tomorrow. :)

EOS J203 ADULT GREEN

I know the green looks a little light and "fake" here but it doesn't look too artificial when you wear it.

The difference is pretty obvious with & without DOH since I have pretty dark eyes.

With lenses, without make up.

With lenses AND make up.

A close up of the lenses, see what I mean by looking not too artificial when you wear it?

So now, you have seen the comparison shots and how it looks like when worn, let's move on to What I Think about these lenses:

Color/ Pattern: It is a bright and vibrant colour (due to the fact that I have dark brown eyes), which I think its a great colour to have in your circle lenses collection, for special events when you're going for the more dramatic look. It is pretty obvious when worn, which is massive contrast compared to my E Natural Toric Circle Lense.Hence, it might be a little too out there for someone who's looking for something more natural.

Comfort: They are pretty comfortable and feels just like the normal lenses. However, like most circle lenses, you are not meant to wear them for long hours. This applies here too. I could go with a good 6-7 hours without feeling dry but the last time I worn this was from 7am to 3am the next day and needless to say, my eyes were as dry as the Sahara desert.

Enlargement: The black rim on the lenses probably did give the eyes a little "pop" and makes them less dopey but I don't think it has much of a enlargement effect.

Price: Retailing at US$20.00 per pair, I think its pretty reasonable. It costs as much as a dinner and dessert but you get a pretty long use from it instead of go in and come out a day or two later LOL (ok, that was a little too far lols).

OVERALL: I really like these lenses, especially when I have parties or events to attend. My only setback is probably the fact that they aren't toric and it's not advisable to wear lenses that aren't your exact prescription. I guess that's the price you pay for beauty, as long as it's in moderation. :) I will only wear these lenses when I don't have to (or minimum need to) face the computer and/ or read. Highly recommended if you're looking for something more out there. If you're just about to pop your circle lenses cherry, you might want to start with something more subtle. :)

Tattoo courtesy of Glossy Box

As you may have already know from twitter, I was on vacation for three weeks in Malaysia (God, I miss my holidays). I had quite a hard time getting back on the blogging wheels as I have been trying to get back to the 9-5 routine, unpacking and reorganising (which is no where near done btw =.="), looking for a new place, and a strings of events to kick start the new year (stay tune for the launch of new products in 2012 :D). But I have a lists of posts lining up for Feb. :)

Digression.

Here's just a few a whole lots of photos to depict what's been happenin in the land down under since I got back:

This was amazing albeit the salted caramel was a tad too salty.

GlossyBox Bloggers Party @The Loft on Australia Day Eve.

A special mention to the girls from GlossyBox for organising such a great event and I had a wonderful time despite the extremely gay and disgusting weather. (Think: thunderstorm and rain ALL DAY). It's always great to catch up with the fellow beauty bloggers over some delicious nibbles and some bubbles.

Complimentary Bushell Tea Cocktail in conjunction with Australia Day + Pavlova
Definitely a unique drink to remember but that toffee liquor certainly didn't have much effect.

The INCREDIBLY generous goodie bag that was gifted at the end of the night! There are quite a few products that I am pretty keen on trying! Will definitely keep you girls posted. :)

Rocking a bright orange lips on Australia Day! Spot the kangaroo ;)

Poached Eggs, Haloumi, Grilled Tomatoes and Avocado on Sourdough Rye
Late brunch at Mickey's Cafe, Paddington.

1L of White Sangria between W and I
What's Australia Day celebration without booze? Although we weren't hip enough to have a scnitty and cider at a pub yo! LOL It was lovely to have some exposure to Vitamin D today (by intervals, may I add) after a couple of crappy, rainy days.

Nail of the Week - ORLY Nail Lacquer in Forever Crimson.

Before logging off, here's a sneak peak of what's coming up next:

My loot from Singapore Duty Free. :)

And of course, swatches and reviews of some amazing products that I have recently haul-ed and discovered. :)

Alright mates, that's all for today. Time to hit the sack as I have another day of work before the weekend. IF only I had enough leave to enjoy a long weekend. Bummerrrrr! But,

GUESS WHO'S GOING TO KANYE WEST TOMORROWWWW????

FOTD Challenge - Mermaid Inspired Step-by-Step Tutorial

Finally, a FOTD post after my last FOTD post, which was over a month ago. #FailBeautyBlogger right here. And to be honest, these FOTD shots have been sitting in my Picasa Export folder for quite a while, probably growing fungus. And when I saw Sara-May's FOTD Challenge 1 - Mermaid Inspired on her spanking new site - Make Up Utopia (Go check it out ladies if you haven't already! It's fantabulous! :D), I knew straightaway that I no longer have any excuse to procrastinate further, even though I am still on vacation. #Dedication

So, before proceeding to a series of pik-chas, what first comes to your mind when you think about mermaid? For me, its something within the pink and purple family (the mermaid's top) with a hint of aqua blue (which represents the ocean).

Here is my take on the Mermaid-Inspired look I had on Melbourne Cup last year - with a combination of coral-red, violety-purple and aqua using my trusty INGLOT palettes.

My beloved INGLOT palettes purchased during IMATS/ABBW2011
#1 - Matte coral-red
#2 - Matte taupe-ish shade with purple undertone
#3 - Matte violet-y purple
#4 - Shimmery Champagne Pearl
#5 - Matte Aqua

My apologies for the # identification as I do not have these palettes with me at the moment. Just leave me a comment or tweet me (@ThruBeautyEyes) if you would like the exact code for any colours above (This is WHY I absolutely hate number coded beauty products!)

Of course, natural-looking falsies to give a more dramatic effect. I know its an obvious contradiction there - I want the luscious lash effect without looking like a drag queen ( I had to work before lunch and hence over-dramatic make up is a big no no!) You wouldn't want an extremely dramatic, doll lashes which will probably steal the thunder of your eye make up by covering majority of them, would you?

So, HOW TO RECREATE THIS LOOK?

STEP 1: First and the most important step - PRIME YOUR EYE LIDS & LOWER LASHLINE. It ensures your eyeshadows stay on all day without creasing and increases the intensity of your colours, appearing more vibrant. [Urban Decay Primer Potion]

STEP 2: Apply a creme shadow base (of the similar colour you intend to apply all over your lid). This step is optional. However, I like to apply a layer of creme shadow of my lid colour to further increase the intensity of the colours. [MAC Paint Pot in Coral Crepe]

STEP 3: Apply Colour #1 over the 2/3 of your lid. (I gently pack on this colour rather than brushing it all over to avoid excessive fall outs as matte eyeshadows are generally chalkier than shimmery colours.)

STEP 4: Apply Colour #2 on the outer corner of your lid, creating a "V" shape and bringing it into the centre of my crease.

STEP 5: Gently pack on Colour #3 at the "cross section" of Colour #1 and #2 to create a gradient, transitioning effect.

STEP 6: Using a fluffy, blending brush, blend the three colours together to blend away all the harsh line. Feel free to go back and pack on the colours if the colours faded from the blending. Keep repeating until you reach the intensity you want. [Rae Morris #7" Deluxe Precision Shader]*

STEP 7: Once you're happy with Step 6, using a smaller blending brush, apply colour #4 on the inner corner of your crease and blend away. Don't forget to apply the same colour on the inner third of your lower lash line to brighten up the look.

STEP 8: Line your lower lash line with a creamy aqua pencil liner and apply colour #5 to set the liner. [Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner]

STEP 9: Don't worry, you're almost there! Line your upper lash line with your favourite gel liner, apply your favourite mascara before applying a natural-looking falsies. [Maybelline Studio Drama Lasting Gel Liner in Black]

It should look something like that now =P

Goodbye 2011, Hello 2012!

WHAT UP?

So, while Sydney had already welcomed 2012 with its impressive annual NYE Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks and the rest of the world counting down with style (think: party and drinks), yours truly happened to be stuck in the most boring countdown family friends dinner in history (picture: 60s ASIAN live band and crowd with an average age of at least 45. Yes FML indeed). Instead of whinging like a 10 year old brat, I decided to make use of my blogger app which has been hibernating in my sea of apps and make a recap of 2011 and a list of resolutions for 2012!

DURING 2011,

* ThroughBeautyEyes.Com has came a long way in 2011. I'm grateful to be part of the beauty community in Australia and was able to work with some of the best PRs and brands. Forget about "no talking to stranger" rule your mum taught you, I have met more than a handful of amazing people through twitter and friendships were formed. :)

* I passed 2 out of 5 modules of the Chartered Accountant Program. (And fingers crossed the 3rd one too when result is released in Feb). And yes, my "day job" is the good old' boring accountant.

* STEREOSONIC 2011! I'm very well aware that this is not an achievement of some sort but it made its place to one of the highlights of 2011. Definitely a day to remember!

* Learnt about the reality of working life

* Felt butterflies in my stomach again after a bloody long time. Good to know that I'm not that cold blooded after all =P

* Turned from a gym hater to a gym junkie :D Made full use of my gym membership and extended my contract for another year! However, I still have HEAPS to work on my diet (yes, they are pretty disappointing)

* Does visiting strip clubs count? I KID! LOL

Nothing outrageous, really. But these are more significant than the others and I'm definitely hoping that the year of 2012 will be more exciting and I have greater achievements! This bring us to the next section of this post -

RESOLUTIONS OF 2012!

* STOP procrastinating.

* Be more PRO-ACTIVE in turning my goals into achievement and stop giving myself excuses. No more "I want this BUT that" bullshit.

* HEALTHY lifestyle, in particular the diet department. Time to bid late night KFC goodbye and CUT DOWN ON DRINKING.

* More CONSISTENT postings on ThroughBeautyEyes.Com, revamp the entire site and be more efficient in attending emails.

* Be a nicer person and stop being such a judgmental and superficial bitch.

* Step out of my comfort zone and do something mind blowingly outrageous!

* SAVE. Nuff said.

* Buy an apartment.

* Stop being so agro LOL ( According to my friends, I am albeit I think I'm just slightly more expressive than most =P)

* Spend more time with my loved ones and not take them for granted.

That's pretty much all I can think of at the moment. I apologize for the lack of posting as of late as I am currently on vacation in Malaysia. I will try to have a couple of posts up during my vacation but at the mean time, don't forget to enter my Kiwiberry Circle Lenses Giveaway HERE.

Once again, ThroughBeautyEyes.Com wishes you lovely readers a Happy New Year! May 2012 be a year full of love, happiness and prosperity!

Ps: One hour down, half an hour to go to 2012! Blogging does help to kill time. =P

XOXO,
A
