FOTD & TIPS: Simple tricks to create a "done up" look!

Whats up buttercups?

It has been a while since I last updated this humble space of mine. As some of you may already know, I have been living in a sea of tax textbooks, slaving away for my CA last week. Thank god, it is now over , for now.

Hence, ThroughBeautyEyes.Com will be back and active again. No more solely Photolog and Instagram posts. :)

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

Have a party to attend but in a hurry? Wanna rock your favourite Kim Kardashian's smokey eyes but running out of time. Fret not, here are a few tips on how to create a "cheating" eye make up that looks more done up than it actually is.

You can play around with different eyeshadows and lipsticks to look like you have created different look everyday but the basic techniques are the same!

Step 1: After applying an eyeshadow primer, apply a cream shadow which matches the eyeshadow colour you will be using later. It helps the eyeshadow stays better and makes it more vibrant. I used Bloom Eye Crayon in Taupe. Chanel D'Ombre in Illusoire is a my other to-go-for cream shadow.

Step 2: Apply a dark-based eyeshadow such as taupe, grey, dark purple... anything that gives you the smokey effect all over your lid. I used my INGOT taupe e/s here but Minx from Smashbox Girls On Film Palette (swatched and reviewed) is also my other all-time favourite. You may pat on extra eyeshadow on the outer corner to create a more smokey effect. Don't forget to blend away the harsh edges!

Step 3: Line the lower lashline with a waterproof pencil liner. The last thing you want is have your eyeliner smudging halfway through the day. My HG eyeliner pencil is Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner Pencil in Black

Step 4: Set the eyeliner with a black eyeshadow. My favourite combination now is Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner Pencil and the black eyeshadow from NVEY ECO Eyeshadow Palette
Not only does this step help your eyeliner stay in place, it softens the look and makes it smokier too. Double bingo!

Step 5: Apply waterproof liquid liner on your upper lashline. Don't forget to wing it. I am using Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner in Black.

Final step - Apply generous coats of your favourite mascara to complete the look. My current favourites which give me those luscious lashes are Australis Voluptulash and Australis Killer Curls

VOILA - the complete look!

Don't forget to put on your favourite coloured contacts/ circle lenses. It does make a difference. I am using EOS J203 Adult Green (reviewed HERE) but EOS G201 Max Pure Gray(reviewed HERE) is also my other favourite when I want to go for the more dolly/Japanese look.

On my FACE
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Nude
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Ivory (as highlighted)
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Make Up
Hello Kitty Compact Powder in Pashmina Ambre (as bronzer)
ELF Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow
Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder

On my LIPS
Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

As it was just another casual Sunday, I decided to go with a more neutral-toned lips rather than a bold one. But feel free to swap it with a loud fuchsia lip or a bloody red lips if you wish to - whatever that floats your boat.

Another version - using Minx from my Smashbox Palette and MAC Watch Me Shimmer lipstick PLUS falsies :)
This is what I like about make up - there is so much room for creativity - as long as you don't go overboard, mix and match fun times always give you a pretty final result.

Running out of getting-ready time before a night out with the chicas? Here's the wrap up for a few tips that could come in handy :P

* Put on some coloured contacts/ circle lenses
*Use darker eyeshadows (swap taupe for grey or dark purple) for a smokier effect
* Smudge your lower lash line
* Coat on LAYERS of mascara (Or you might add on some falsies if you wish)
* Play around with your lipstick collections

What are your cheat-tricks when you are running out of time to get ready?

Have a great week lovelies!!

PHOTOLOG: Of #MBFWA and #CAStudyBreak

Howdy everybody! Another gorgeous day in Sydney - it seems like we have been getting the summer days we never had with the abundance of sunshine lately. Shame I don't have much of a chance to enjoy Mr. Sunshine.

If you have been following me on twitter or instagram (@ThroughBeautyEyes), you would have probably came across alot of #CARelatedTweets. Yes, it's that time of the year again where yours truly become a hermit in the name of CA (Chartered Accountant Program) and does nothing but sexing my notes and eating non-stop with zero exercise.

It has been a while since I last updated - #badblogger so just a couple of snippets from the past 2 weeks to keep you posted re my mundane life. But fret not, ThroughBeautyEyes.Com will resume in full force post 8 May 2012 once I take Taxation paper down #likeaboss.
(gotta stop speaking #twitter language!)

PHOTOLOG: Easter Long Weekend

HAPPY HUMP DAY, LOVELIES!!

Gotta love a 4-day week, it's already midweek. That only means we are another day closer to the Eve and Friday!! Whoop Whoop! :)

Further to my Part 1 of this week's PhotoLog HERE, this post is just a quick update on my Easter Long Weekend:

I gotta admit, despite the occasional crazy wind, the weather has been pretty good to us Sydney-siders as of late. This is probably the first Good Friday in a while which had the sun shining bright at us instead of drizzling all day.

Good Friday was spent with the bestie, Miss WendyAndCo after a night filled with CC Drys, Plum Wine & I-Can't-Keep-Track-Of-The-Rest-Of-My-Drinks and we managed to squeeze Titanic 3D into the schedule with some KFC Wicked Wings Snack Box!

Needless to say, this classic movie left Wendy and I tearing by the end of the show. No longer the naive little girls we are, apart from the cliche yet unrealistic love story (which is still heart wrenching BTW), we focus on the tragedy itself and that gave us a whole new perspective in life.

The 3D effect was rather subtle - except for the part when Titanic sunk within minutes but I would still recommend it to those of you whom have yet to watch this in ages. Please watch at your own risk as this movie has left quite an impact on Wendy and I, with us feeling sad a day after. #truestory

Wendy from WendyAndCo, Shan from FoodIsOurReligion, Alice and Yours Truly

After a day of recovering, it's roadtrip with the girls down to the Coast, stopping by Wollongong, ShellHarbour & Kiama!

God bless Mother Nature for another lovely sunny day albeit the wind was pretty crazy at times - the weather was still perfecto for a day trip!

Yours truly @ Wollongong Beach.

I promise I am innocent. :P

What's the best way to end a good day out (and to kill the annoying nose block!) other than a good bowl of hot and spicy soup?

@Noggi
And, green tea frozen yogurt as dessert! Yums yums in my tums tums! :D

Another sunny day in Sydney after a gloomy Easter Sunday (in which I stayed at home and laze in bed like a sloth)! My outfit of the day for a coffee with the gorgeous Lilit and Jenny

Lovin the denim shorts & loose, flowy shirt (chiffon material) combo!

Guess who finally gave in and came home with this baby? <3

All proceeds from the sales of Viva Glam Range go towards the research for HIV - so it is for good cause and this is probably the only time I will purchase full price items from MAC Australia.

I can foresee this lippie is going to be competing so hard with my current fav - MAC Watch Me Shimmer :P

@Kobow Restaurant
Complimentary Korean entree´ for early din din - they did not have my fav honey potatoes!

Korean BBQ Beef Brisket, Hot tofu soup (I could SO do with some of this right now!) and seafood pancake! NOMS!

@Moochi
Just in case you can't already tell, green tea frozen yogurt is my weakness!

Personally, I prefer Moochi over Noggi as their frozen yogurt is more authentic (ie, sour and less sweet). Even their mochi is not as sweet as Noggi. Either way, they are both yummy and me ruvs!

FOTD
Circle lenses, mad ass mascara and instagram filter for lighter hair makes me look different, no? I'd like to call it #gyaruinspired if I may say so myself.

I would love to go this light with my hair if it wasn't for my crazily sensitive scalp! Argh, decisions, decisions.

Just started using Australis VoluptuLash Mascara over the Long Weekend and can you tell I am absolutely lovin it already!!!! Look at how mad those lashes look and yes, they are my natural lashes. Probably one of the best mascara I have tried thus far - and the best thing is they are easy on the wallet too! *cheers*

(Full review to come soon :D)

Circle lenses as reviewed HERE

That pretty much sums up my simple but relaxing and amazing (simply because its a 4 day weekend!) #LongWeekend. Sucks having to be back at work but I will try to be positive and less cranky this week! #POSITIVITY peeps!

I suppose you guys are probably starting to get bored of my continuous photolog updates - proper beauty related updates resume in the next post! :D

How was your Easter Long Weekend?
Got up to anything interesting or mischief? :P

REVIEW: CIRCLE LENSES PART 2 - EOS G201 MAX PURE GREY and GIVEAWAY WINNER :)

Remember I said that there will be a part 2 coming up when I reviewed about the EOS J203 Adult Green lenses HERE last week? Except that instead of the next day, it took me more than a week for Part 2. Standard.

EOS G201 MAX PURE GREY

This is definitely more subtle and less over the top compared to the Green lenses, and the black rims give a pretty good enlargement effect.

Be the judge yourself and spot the difference. :P

With lenses, without make up.

With lenses, with make up.

A close up of the lenses.

As you can tell, the Max Pure Gray "blends" in better with my natural eyes colour and its less over the top.

Just like the previous review, after the comparison shots and how it looks like when worn, let's move on to What I Think about these lenses:

Color/ Pattern: This colour is pretty subtle and is suitable for everyday wear if you're a circle lenses person.  This could be another alternative if light brown/ honey coloured ones are a tad too bright for a start up colour.

Comfort: These lenses are pretty comfortable for circle lenses standard - I am able to wear them for a good 6-7 hours before having to apply eye drops. And don't worry, it feels the same as the normal lenses when worn. :)

Enlargement: This lenses give a better and bolder enlargement effect compared the the green ones, in which I love as the enlargement is perfect - just the way I like it. ;)

Price: I think its pretty reasonable at $20.00 per pair, especially you can get at least 6 months use out of it (it claims that you can wear up to 2 years but I don't think I will risk it especially I am a lazy ass when it comes to lense care).

OVERALL: I like these ones as much as the Adult Green but I will probably wear this more often than the other as this is slightly more subtle. If these were the exact prescription, there's actually possibility that I might be a daily-circle-lense-convert. :P Highly recommended for those who are just about to start out with circle lenses. :)

View the entire Max Pure Collection HERE

I noticed that the grey lenses makes me look more anime, especially when I am wearing nude lips. ;P
