FOTD & TIPS: Simple tricks to create a "done up" look!

Whats up buttercups?

It has been a while since I last updated this humble space of mine. As some of you may already know, I have been living in a sea of tax textbooks, slaving away for my CA last week. Thank god, it is now over , for now.

Hence, ThroughBeautyEyes.Com will be back and active again. No more solely Photolog and Instagram posts. :)

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

Have a party to attend but in a hurry? Wanna rock your favourite Kim Kardashian's smokey eyes but running out of time. Fret not, here are a few tips on how to create a "cheating" eye make up that looks more done up than it actually is.

You can play around with different eyeshadows and lipsticks to look like you have created different look everyday but the basic techniques are the same!

Step 1: After applying an eyeshadow primer, apply a cream shadow which matches the eyeshadow colour you will be using later. It helps the eyeshadow stays better and makes it more vibrant. I used Bloom Eye Crayon in Taupe. Chanel D'Ombre in Illusoire is a my other to-go-for cream shadow.

Step 2: Apply a dark-based eyeshadow such as taupe, grey, dark purple... anything that gives you the smokey effect all over your lid. I used my INGOT taupe e/s here but Minx from Smashbox Girls On Film Palette (swatched and reviewed) is also my other all-time favourite. You may pat on extra eyeshadow on the outer corner to create a more smokey effect. Don't forget to blend away the harsh edges!

Step 3: Line the lower lashline with a waterproof pencil liner. The last thing you want is have your eyeliner smudging halfway through the day. My HG eyeliner pencil is Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner Pencil in Black

Step 4: Set the eyeliner with a black eyeshadow. My favourite combination now is Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner Pencil and the black eyeshadow from NVEY ECO Eyeshadow Palette
Not only does this step help your eyeliner stay in place, it softens the look and makes it smokier too. Double bingo!

Step 5: Apply waterproof liquid liner on your upper lashline. Don't forget to wing it. I am using Maybelline Hyper Sharp Liner in Black.

Final step - Apply generous coats of your favourite mascara to complete the look. My current favourites which give me those luscious lashes are Australis Voluptulash and Australis Killer Curls

VOILA - the complete look!

Don't forget to put on your favourite coloured contacts/ circle lenses. It does make a difference. I am using EOS J203 Adult Green (reviewed HERE) but EOS G201 Max Pure Gray(reviewed HERE) is also my other favourite when I want to go for the more dolly/Japanese look.

On my FACE
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Nude
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Ivory (as highlighted)
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Treatment Make Up
Hello Kitty Compact Powder in Pashmina Ambre (as bronzer)
ELF Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow
Australis Ready Set Go Finishing Powder

On my LIPS
Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

As it was just another casual Sunday, I decided to go with a more neutral-toned lips rather than a bold one. But feel free to swap it with a loud fuchsia lip or a bloody red lips if you wish to - whatever that floats your boat.

Another version - using Minx from my Smashbox Palette and MAC Watch Me Shimmer lipstick PLUS falsies :)
This is what I like about make up - there is so much room for creativity - as long as you don't go overboard, mix and match fun times always give you a pretty final result.

Running out of getting-ready time before a night out with the chicas? Here's the wrap up for a few tips that could come in handy :P

* Put on some coloured contacts/ circle lenses
*Use darker eyeshadows (swap taupe for grey or dark purple) for a smokier effect
* Smudge your lower lash line
* Coat on LAYERS of mascara (Or you might add on some falsies if you wish)
* Play around with your lipstick collections

What are your cheat-tricks when you are running out of time to get ready?

Have a great week lovelies!!

XOXO,
A

10-MINUTES FOTD CHALLENGE & Sunday Quickies

What up?

Hope you guys had a great weekend!
I had a pretty relaxing weekend (read: I have done jack shit =.=") and god bless the glorious weekend weather after a terrible storm that hit the Sydney shore last Thursday. :D

Cosmopolitan; Havaianas; Sheridan Beach Towel; Coogee

Being an avid beach lover, how can I miss getting a good ol' Vitamin D-soaking sesh and playtime with the waves?

I think I am close to being a chocolate bar now but am absolutely loving my tan! If only it stays this awesome for the next 6 months! #AGirlCanDream

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

So, after a scrumptious yumcha session with the uni crew at some ungodly hour on Sunday (9:30am on a Sunday is classified as ungodly in my dictionary.), I managed to squeeze in a mini haul before hitting the b-e-a-c-h.

Sunday Mini Haulage
- Charity bracelet - "peace" and "believe"from RUBI - BIG ideas note book from TYPO to motivate myself to write down any ideas/ inspirations that come to mind and/or sight - 3 pair of heels from RUBI -

Before giving me the "WTF, is she crazy" look, these pretty heels were selling for $10 per pair and their heels are of perfect height for work. Its hard to go past them, really. Moreover, I do *kinda* need working heels as 99.9% of my heels collections have an average height of 4 inches. Not quite work appropriate, me thinks.

RRP AUD5 with any purchase in store (TYPO)
Tell me how gorgeous this PINK Eiffel tower iPhone casing is!!! :P
Super love <3

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

As the title suggests, I challenged myself to finish a full make up (including eyes, lips and face; excluding any skin care applications) within 10 minutes. I have been snoozing my alarm more often than ever in the past couple of weeks and I have no other choice but to take my own sweet time to be creative with my FOTD. =/ I think there's a 5 minutes challenge that was going around a while ago but we gotta be realistic sometimes - 5 minutes is mission impossible LOL

10 minutes Make Up Challenge

Here's a quick breakdown of the products used:

FACE
SkinFood Aloe Vera BB Cream in #2
Maybelline Instant Age-Rewind Skin Correcter in Nude
Marjolica Marjoca Puff de Cheeks in OR302
Sports Girl Oh My Goddess Bronzer

Simple and quick make up = a younger and more innocent Adeline. :)

Love the final results of this <10minutes FOTD.
It will probably be my "on-the-go" look with probably different lip colour every week, or even day!

Sisley Phyoto Ombre´ E´clat in Stardust is an absolute gem and works perfectly as an over the lid colour! (Review and swatches coming this week!)

I challenge everyone of you to do the 10 minutes FOTD challenge. :P

How long does it take you to apply your daily make up?
Does it take you less or more than 10 minutes?

Don't forget to leave your link below if you took up the challenge! Would love to check it out!

SNIPPETS: What Up, Mini haul, Sneak Peak, Surprise Packages :)

I am sure those of you who works full time can relate - the only reason you love Thursday because it brings you a step closer to Friday; we all love Fridays simply because you get to have a sneaky cider or a glass of SavBlanc over lunch and the drinking that entails after the clock hits 5 and of course the start of the weekend.

As mentioned in my previous post, I am finally back on the blogging bandwagon - albeit there are some sorting to do with my photos and drafts clutters. I can't really go on another "break" while organizing my files, can I? Hence, this is another photo-clogged post. :)

We bid the nearly non-existent summer goodbye yesterday and welcomed autumn (or fall as the Americans & Canadians call it :D) yesterday. I would love to call it a glorious farewell, unfortunately it was nothing but an overcasted 30 degrees weather which spells out humidity, along with the lines of disgusting and gross.

@Narrabeen Beach on one of the VERY FEW good days.
I am going to miss the beach, the TAN and the waves. :( It's going to be duvet, bed, DvDs and lots of brunches in the coming months.

NOTD - Bloom Cosmetics The Cassette Society II
Painted my nails grey to suit the deary cold and wet weather. :)

To be honest, I actually quite enjoy the rain IF it was a Sunday and I have the luxury of sleeping in and make love to my duvet. =P

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

On a random note, surprise packages at the office never fail to make my day. And lucky Adeline struck two on the EVE. :)

Surprise Package #1 :)

Jane Iredale's Step Into Autumn Warm Pack - My Steppes Warm Compact which complements your day and night look with Ice-Mocha and Crabapple Pure Gloss and PurePressed Blush in Whisper and So-Bronze-3.

Surprise Package #2

Australis Mascara of All Sorts - Three new mascaras - Voluptulash, Multi Mega Lash and Lash Lengths Extensions Mascara coming soon! :)

Sweet Sensation - Mascara + Sweets

A huge thank you to Maxted Thomas and the Australis team for sending these goodies over. <3

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

So, I have been pretty good with my spending ever since I got back from Asia, especially in the beauty department. However, I decided to go on a mini retail therapy to reward myself for passing the third module of my CA program. :)

Ankle Booties from GLUE
I call this necessity as I NEEDED a pair of booties in this wet weather and its way too early to whip out my leather boots.
It looks amazing with shorts (especially denim) and surprisingly comfy as they are pretty hard - can't wait to mix and match with pieces from my wardrobe this autumn!

3 for $10 from Equip

Just because... they were on sale and I needed some accessories to spice up my boring outfit these days. :)

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

This is totally random and out of the blue but suits the rain SO PERFECTLY!

(Have I turn English with the constant mentioning and association of weather with almost everything?)

SPICY BEEF RAMEN
I could so demolish a bowl of this... right now!
(as time of drafting this post, which is precisely Friday, 2 March 2012 12:41am)
Not a good idea blogging about scrumptious food in the wee hours.

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

Before hitting the sack, a sneak peak of upcoming posts in March 2012 :D

NP Set "Live a Colourful Life" Collection
NP Set brushes
Sisley Mystic Harmony Autumn Collection
FOTD for the night out with the bloggers. :)
Simple, everyday FOTD  - hair was fresh from rebonding :)
 :+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

A few of my readers actually commented that they enjoy reading "random snippets-pictures filled" type of posts. I will probably do like a weekly update post, featuring random photos of my life.

What says you? ;)

Have a spanking good weekend, lovelies!! :D

FOTD - WINTER BLUES

Hello lovelies!

What's crackin'? Did you have a great weekend? I sure did after a long (and shit) week at work and it was a very much needed relax weekend. As always, good times fly by quickly and here we are, back to the dreadful Moody Monday again.

Sorry for the lack of post in the past 2 weeks as I was busy working (and spending too FML), going through the wtf-do-I-want-in-life-phase and I pretty much been wearing the easy-on-the-go neutral smokey look.
But I had quite a number of photos edited, so do expect a more frequent update in the next couple of days and that includes the monthy favourites for June. =P

Anyways, enough of babbling. Serious matters please. :)

I was feeling a little adventurous on Saturday instead of the usual black/brown smokey look.

After staring at my Alice in the Wonderland BoS palette for a good 5 minutes, I had a rough sketch in my mind on the colours I intend to use and 15 minutes later, VOILA :)

Close up - Its a good mix of turquoise, lavender and black.

On my EYES

Prestige Baked Mineral Blush in Pink

On my LIPS
I wasn't wearing anything here when these photos were taken as I was running late.=.="
I did have Barry M Lipstain in 129 on in the photos taken with my friends. :)

A few luvo-camwhore shots just because I can :)

I really like how it turn out to be and it has a very winter feel to it. However, this is not something I will wear out often though as I am more of a neutral person.

Are you adventurous when it comes to eye make up or are you a neutral eye person like me?
Will you wear this out often? :D

Packages makes my day =P

Hey lovelies,

How was your weekend? Time passes so quickly when you're having fun! I shall do a proper update on my weekend in the next post. :) I was thinking of shutting down my personal blog and focus on TBE as it takes too much effort to update both.

Do you guys prefer ThroughBeautyEyes to be solely a beauty-related blog or you wouldn't mind a mixture of beauty-related stuff and some random updates about my life?

As the title suggests, I love receiving packages. I am sure we all do.:) I was VERY fortunate to have won the BeautyholicsAnnonymous Turns Three Giveaway a week ago and my EXTREMELY HUGE package finally arrived last Thursday. =P I mean what are the odds in winning them right? With more than 100 participants. I have LadyLuck to thank for that.

I decided to take a 3D view of the package, just to prove how HUGE this package is. Picture speaks a thousand words, isn't it?

All the goodies were nicely bubble-wrapped and that's a whole lot of goodies, as you can see. It is indeed one heck of a goodie bag as Christine puts it. I feel like a kid again, opening her Christmas present filled with surprises.

A pretty card with a note and her business cards.

Without further ado, lets have a better look at the stuffs included in the goodie bag:

Christine included a couple of pieces from her jewellery line - SweetContemplationAccessories in the goodie bag too. VERY cute ones, may I add.

LOOK AT HOW CUTE THIS NECKLACE IS!!! I like how the little bird is PART of the necklace and the pearls.

Simple but elegant earrings.

Pretty Fashion Make Up Kit - It comes with 20 gorgeous shimmer eyeshadow colours (which I am yet to swatch. Can't wait to try them out!), 2 blushes, 2 contouring powder/ foundation?, 5 lip colours, cotton pad and little brushes.

Bloom products :) I came across the Bloom counter everytime I go to MYER but never really check out their products. Well, now is the chance to try their products out. :D I have used the Bloom Green Tea & Bergamot scented soap and I absolutely love the scent of it. However, the scent doesn't stay on as long as LUSH soaps do.

Bloom Make Up Palette that comes with 3 neutral eyeshadows, 3 lip colours, 2 brushes and a mirror - perfect for the make up bag. :)

Napoleon Perdis products - The Napoleon Perdis Luminous Lip Veil in Gold & the Beautiful compliments my Revlon Matte Lipstick in Nude Attitude very well!! And it tastes good too lol.

Skin care products and ALOT of sample size products =)

Face Masks

Smiggle stationeries =P

Imagine the self control I need to exert to prevent myself from shrieking in excitement everytime I see a different product. *hyperventilates* Christine was extremely generous to include all these goodies in her giveaway prizes.

Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for holding this giveaway. Do check out her blog - BeautyholicsAnnonymous and her accessories shop -SweetContemplationAccessories, if you haven't already. :)

Are there any products that you want me to review or swatch?

XOXO,
A
