PRODUCTS I LOVE #2: SPRING EDITION

It has been a good 3 months since my last #ProductsILove post and now that winter is over, weather has turned warmer, me thinks its time for an updated edition since we use different products based on different season, no?

HERE are a few of my favourite products that I have tried and tested recently:

Face of Australia Budge Proof Eyeshadows

TOP L-R: Emerald Tears, Poison Ivy, Bling Bling
BOTTOM L-R: Violet Rays, Bronze Sphinkx

L - R: Emerald Tears, Poison Ivy, Bling Bling, Violet Rays & Bronze Sphinx

FAVOURITES of the loot are: Violet Rays & Bronze Sphinx.

Violet Rays made smokey eyes a whole lot more wearable - I have been wearing this smokey eyes till the past 2 weeks or so ever since I have mastered my "perfect" day smokey eyes. Simply apply Violet Rays all over your lids and apply a matte brown/ coffee eyeshadow to the outer corner of your lids and halfway through your crease to blend the harsh lines out. VOILA - smokey eyes in less than 5 minutes.

Bronze Sphinx is my new to-go-to colour as the weather gets warmer. I don't know about you but I try to keep my make up to the bare minimum (as possible) during the warmer months. On the good days, I go completely sans eyeshadow. However, when I feel the need to have some colours on my eyelids, this is the baby to go to. I either wear it on its own, or add some dark brown eyeshadow to the outer corner of my lids & halfway through my crease for a more defined look. Another winner in my books.

Neutrogena Beach Defence Water & Barrier Lotion and Spray SPF 50

This new sunscreen range from Neutrogena is god sent for summer - especially with the scorching one we're expecting! Whilst I'm a HUGE fan of tanning, I am a massive sun screen freaks too. Can't really turn a blind eye when you have Skin Cancer ads poppin up left, right, centre! (Good work, NSW gov on your skin cancer campaign!)

Neutrogena Beach Defence Water & Barrier Lotion - This is definitely my beach essential this summer - 4 hour after resistant, rich but non sticky & smells good. Need I say more?

Neutrogena Beach Defence Water & Barrier Spray - Personally, I think slathering sunscreen on a daily basis takes too much effort especially in the morning. PLUS, it feels wrong putting on work clothes after applying sunscreen. No? This sunscreen spray is made for lazy bums like me and it's SO convenient. I spray on before I leave for work and even have a can on my desk at work for some "touch up" if I decide to get some Vitamin D at Hyde Park during my lunch break. Convenience at its best and I can tan without guilt!

Just in case you haven't already picked it up, I am quite lazy and anything that saves me time gets extra brownie points :P

Face of Australia BB Cream in Medium to Dark

Spring & summertime calls for au naturale make up. The last thing you want is having your cakeface melting under the 30 degrees weather. Whilst I still use heavier coverage foundation for night outs and events, I try to keep it simple during my day-to-day routine and this BB cream has been a recent favourite for me.

Like most BB creams do, it provides pretty sheer coverage. However, you are able to build it up slightly by applying a second layer. (This is kinda defeating the purpose of avoiding cakeface, right?) At less than $15 a pop, this will be one of my summer go-tos. The only drawback about this BB cream is it does not have any SPFs so PLEASE remember to apply sunscreen prior to applying this!

Marc Jacob Honey Perfume

As someone who loves florals and fruity scent, this is another winner from the Marc Jacobs fragrance collection. It's less floral-y than Daisy & not as sweet as Dots - perfect summer day scent.

MUK Curl Stick

For those of you who don't know, my hair has been chemically strengtened (Japanese straightening) for the past 12 years (holy shit, it's almost a decade!). Ain't no normal curler is gonna make my curls stay! So, when I got the chance to try this out, I jumped right straight into it! Coming in 3 different sized wands and 3 adjustable temperature (perfect for those with finer hair and don't want to kill your hair under high temperature), seems like a great deal to me. I have only used the large barrel so far as I have fairly thick hair but it creates long-lasting curls for me that holds throughout the day! SOLD.

Whilst I have YET to perfect soft curls I love, I think I am getting there. :P Next up, to get the summer "effortless" beach waves. Hello Sea Salt Spray, you are gonna be my best friend!

These are my current FAVs which I have been reaching out to heaps!
I will dedicate a post to my fav spring/ summer lip products, because, lippies totes need a post on their own.

Have you tried any of the products above?
If not, what are your current favourites?

Spring Specials: FOTD featuring Sisley Phyto-Ombre E´clat in Garden Rose

Doesn't this Sisley Phyto-Ombre E´clat Eyeshadow in Garden Rose just screams spring? :D

When you think of spring, you think of gorgeous flowers in the shade of pink and lilacs; summer dresses with sandals; florals and the warm, crisp air! SPRING is what first popped into my mind when I received this beauty!!

If you have been following ThroughBeautyEyes for a while, you would probably already know that I am not usually adventurous when it comes to my eye make up, except for very special occasions, like my Harajuku inspired FOTD or Mermaid Inspired FOTD

It could be the lovely sunshine Sydney has been blessed as of late or it could be simply because Garden Rose is such a gorgeous shade - I decided to rock this pinkish EOTD during a recent Friday night out.

Make up done, now its down to the hair business.

Remember my post about achieving fuss - free waves using Scunci Pin Twirls? That was exactly how I rocked my hair along with my Garden Rose FOTD. Easy peasy way to give your hair some wavy curls!

Please note that my hair colour is WAY darker than that - I was just tweaking around with the lightings and effects and I loved this colour. Hmmm, serious consideration to be put into this colour as the summer 2012/2013 colour?

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

Yours truly got a little too engrossed in playing around with the different colour settings and effect and Picassa and VOILA - the results as follows:

Hope you enjoyed this "Spring FOTD" - it has been a while. =P

What are your favourite spring colours?

FOTD - Peacock

Hey lovelies,

My apologies for not updating this site for the past week. I haven't really been out of the box in terms of make up since I am working full time now and over the top make up is a big no no in the corporate scene. I do have a few reviews in line and will get to that once I get all the photos and swatches ready :) So stay tune for that! My weekend practically flew by, leaving me uncharged and to-do-list remains as long as Great Wall of China. =.=" Monday Blues, anyone?

At the mean time, check out the latest FOTD I created on Saturday night when I was out with the crew. :)

This is actually one of the very rare occasions where I actually created a look this colourful and bright. I like my neutrals and earthy colours but I decided to take a different route this time since its Spring and Spring is all about colours, right?

I don't want to sound like a total narcissist (though I am one LOL) but I LOVE the colour combination and how the lashes compliments my entire eye look. =)

The best part is : It doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to create this look! In fact, they are pretty damn affordable :)

On my EYES
ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
MAC Coral Crepe Paint Pot
NYX Single Eyeshadow in Africa (all over the lid colour)
Milani Single Eyeshadow in Shock (Crease area)
NYX Single Eyeshadow in Morocco (Outer V, Lower Lashline)
Inuovi TruColor Eyeshadow in Siren Red (Transition colour between lid and crease colour)
NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil (Browbone)
Maybelline Studio Lasting Drama Eyeliner in Black (Upper lashline)
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in Black (Lower lashline)
Max Factor Lash Extension Effect Extra Lengthening Mascara in Black
ELF Eyebrow Kit in Black

On my FACE
Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in Natural Beige
MAC ProLong Wear Concealer in NC 25
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Silky Beige
Bronzer from Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City
Canmake Powder Cheeks in PW25
Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether

On my LIPS
MAC Dazzle Lipstick in Powerful

Oh hai fat cheeks!

I think there's something wrong with my camera as it comes out a lil blurry? Or maybe its the lighting cos it was quite gloomy outside?

I think I have different sizes eyes. =.="

Dress from ASOS.com
I wore my hair in curls out for the first time! Yes, first time!!! Claire helped me with the curls while I helped Clare with her eye make up (Final results will be revealed in the next post!). We were running late so I didn't get to take a front shot of the entire look. Hence, this drunken-lookalike (no, I wasn't smashed!) is the best I can find. :(

So, what do you guys think?
Curls or Straight Hair?

Do you like exploring bright and bold colours during Spring/Summer time? Or you prefer to be safe and stick to the fail proof neutrals?

Have a great week ahead! :)

XOXO,
A
