Wet & Wild FOTD Series - Greed + Lust

Hi lovelies!

Hope you guys are having a great week so far! This week has gone by surprisingly quick but I am not complaining. =P It's officially autumn here in Australia. BOOHOO.  The weather doesn't really get cold until Easter but the forecast for the rest of the week and next week isn't that great. :( There goes my tan I got over the weekend!!!

I am loving the brown skin now! I didn't realise how tanned I was until I took this photo!!! Even people at work were telling me how much brown-er I have gotten over the weekend! LOVE IT though! Albeit I had a bizarre yet vivid nightmare on Saturday about skin cancer after spending all weekend at the beach. =.="

ANYWAYS,

as mentioned in my previous Wet & Wild Colour Icon Palettes review and swatch post, I will be having a Wet & Wild FOTD Series, bringing TBE readers a series of FOTDs I created using the palettes I own. :)

I have already drafted a post using my absolute favourite - Vanity but I decided to post this look first as I look tanner and brown-er here. :P

This FOTD is a combination of Greed & Lust palette. :)

Greed Palette

Lust Palette

I really like how the shimmer peach colour (#5 from Greed Palette) really brightens up my entire look!

Wet & Wild Colour Icon Palettes are definitely my current favourites!!! As you can tell from the photo above, they are incredibly pigmented and colour pay-off is amazing! I wish I own every single of their palettes! You should definitely get your hands on these babies if you have access to them!

IF ONLY I STAY THIS BROWN FOREVERRRRR :)

I hope you guys enjoyed my first Wet & Wild FOTD Series and there are definitely more to come! So stay tune for that. :P

Have you tried any Wet & Wild products, especially the Colour Icon palettes?
Which is your favourite?

REVIEW: CANCER COUNCIL AUSTRALIA TINTED MOISTURIZER WITH SPF30+

January is coming into an end and so is summer (the "official period" that is). But for Sydney-siders, it feels like summertime has just started as the weather has only been pretty summer-ish (scorching hot with glorious sunshine and MINIMUM humidity) as of late. I reckon summer came late this year and its probably gonna stay till end of March? What do you reckon?

As much as I enjoy sunbaking by the beach, wave catching or any activities that make me tanner, the scorching heat does my head in sometimes, especially for someone who sweats easily...... you get the drift. The last thing I want is, having a faceful of melting make up. Totally.Not.Attractive.At.All.
Thank god, I have always been a fan of BB Cream instead of liquid foundation. The only time I use liquid foundation is when I am going out at night. Even on Fridays (when I *might* go out after work), I tend to mix my liquid foundation with BB Cream for a lighter coverage.

However, BB Cream tend to be a little to heavy for me in this sweltering weather. Hence, I was delighted when Cancer Council Australia contacted me and asked if I wanted to try their range of beauty products, with SPF30+. I chose their tinted moisturiser (just in time for summer) and their lipsticks (which I have already reviewed HERE).

I got Roberta to send me both Light Beige and Medium Beige as I wasn't sure which one suited my skin tone best. I was using Light Beige for about a month prior to December and Medium Beige since then as I am way tanner now. :)

Just a couple of illustrations before I go further into the reviews:

NAKED FACE with moisturiser only.

AFTER applying tinted moisturiser

AFTER tinted moisturizer AND concealer & pressed powder

WHAT I THINK ABOUT THE PRODUCT?

Coverage (3/5) :
Remember my Etude House BB Cream review in which I mentioned one of the reasons I love my BB cream is because it feels light on my skin? Well, the Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer beats that when it comes to light-weightness. That being said, it provides very sheer coverage - which in my opinion, is probably not enough to cover blemishes and all. My freckles are SO much more visible when I have this on instead of BB Cream. But oh well, summer and freckles goes well together righhttttttt? Albeit the coverage is anything but full, the light-weightness is also the reason why this product has became a summer staple for me.

Staying power (4/5):
The staying power for this particular tinted moisturizer is average. What do I mean by average? My face make up did stay on all day when I am at work, before I hit the gym, sweating buckets.(That's from 7 in the morning to 5 in the evening, which makes it 9 hours :D) I don't know if it's a good thing that I sweat easily. Actually scrap that. Although sweating is a form of "detoxing" (apparently), I don't like the fact that I start sweating when we are doing warm up and when I am actually exercising, my skin is pretty much drenched. (if that's even possible). So, with the constant sweat-wiping throughout a 2-hour-workout, my face make up is pretty much gone. As I mentioned, the formula is REALLY light, so you can now remove the image of me having a faceful of melting tinted moisturizer. =) Do keep in mind though, as this tinted moisturizer has SPF 30+ it does feel a little oily/sticky when applied, so it might crease for those of you who have oily skin.

I would usually apply my BB Cream or Dermablend Cream on a Friday night when I know I am going to stay back for Friday night drinks (which is pretty much weekly =P) and head out after. Just because I wanna look a little more flawless than usual.

Price (5/5):
Pricing at RRP $12.95, it is definitely reasonable and affordable for Australian Standard. And a tube will probably last you for at least 3 months. Also, you are able to skip the sunscreen if you're lazy as the product comes with SPF30+. That saves you some pennies for not having to purchase an additional sunscreen.  ( However, I still apply a layer of sunscreen with SPF50+ prior to applying my tinted moisturiser as I get freckles easily and although freckles is deemed to be "cute" to most people, the last thing I want is to have a faceful of freckles.)

Will I recommend you?

Yes if you are looking for something light and don't need full coverage.
No if you are looking for something with high coverage and super long staying power. Also, tinted moisturizer is not something you would go for if you are going for the flawless look.

Will I repurchase?
Definitely yes. But that will probably be next summer as I am pretty sure my tube is enough to last me to winter. And winter is BB cream time. :)

FOTD - Summer Favourite!

Hello lovelies!

How is everyone? Sorry for going MIA from this blog for the past week, I have been pretty naughty when it comes to blogging last week. Work and gym took most of time and I am completely exhausted at the end of the day. Also, the weather in Sydney can only be described using one word - temperamental. It can be nice and sunny one day and windy and gloomy the next. Thanks to the constant change of weather + lack of sleep (and maybe a little too much drinking), your truly is now down with a cold, which really sucks huge elephant balls! I am trying to get well before next Thursday as it is my Company's Christmas Party and I am off to Malaysia and Singapore for a week on Friday! (Shopping and FOOD, momma is coming to you!) I will be meeting up with a few bloggers while I am in Singapore too. (take a guess? =P) CAN'T WAIT! =)

ANYWAYS, nonsensical ramblings aside and lets move on to my favourite summer look. :)

This look is extremely easy to create and fail proof - perfecto for summer.

I have been wearing this look to work lately too because 1) I am too lazy to get creative in the morning and 2) I start sweating after the 15 minutes walk to the station and the last thing I want is a melting make up face.

MY SUMMER ESSENTIALS / FAVOURITE PRODUCTS:

These are the products that I have been using alot lately. I just realised I forgotten to include all the eye products I used - EPIC FAIL!

I don't usually use my MAC Super Slick Liquid Liner in blue - I was just exceptionally lazy on the day I took these photos and couldn't be bothered using a brush to apply my favourite gel liner - Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner (which I heard is coming to Australia next year?). Yes, I can be that lazy. =.="

As for the blushes, I am currently into peachy coloured blush. I have been swapping around between ELF Powder Blush in Peachy Keen, Maybelline Mineral Blush in True Peach and my all time favourite MAC MSF Blush in Stereo Rose (which is more of a coral colour than peach).

For highlighters, I have been using my MAC MSF in Candlelight alot lately instead of my all time favourite Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether as it gives me that natural glow without being too shimmery. As much as I LOVE my powdered metal to bits, I really don't wanna sweat shimmer bits in this weather. My Benefit Girls Meet Pearl highlighter (as pictured above) is another awesome but neglected product which finally gets to see daylight again last week. I am such a bad owner sometimes lol.

And for bronzers, I have been swapping between Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City and ELF Warm Bronzing Powder, which is such a disappointment I must say. It is SUPER chalky its not even funny but since I paid a "premium price" (Australia and their taxes) for it, I am trying to use it just so I don't feel bad. =/

Moving on to the FOTD:

On my EYES
ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
MAC Bare Study Paint Pot
NYX Single Eyeshadow in Champagne (all over the lid colour)
Dark Brown from my Physician Formula Baked Collection in Baked Spice (Crease colour)
MAC Super Slick Liquid Liner in Blue
Loreal Voluminous Mascara in Black
ELF Eyebrow Kit in Mediu

Remember how I said this Eyeshadow trio is a huge let down because the colours aren't as pigmented as I expected? Well, I actually find the dark brown colour from the trio is perfect as a crease colour when I am going for the subtle look - not too dark but good enough to give a better dimension to my eyes.

My eyes look like they are swollen? Or maybe they are just weird. =.=""""

On my FACE
Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer in Creme Beige
(Perfect for summer! Expect a review coming up shortly)
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Powder in Cream
Garnier Anti Dark Circles Roll On in light
Rimmel Hide The Blemishes Concealer in Ivory
Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City
ELF Powder Blush in Peachy Keen
Benefit Girls Meet Pearl highlighter

On my LIPS
MAC Lipstick in Shy Girl
(My current favourite! Been using this for the past month or so!)

Lighting is kinda shit too, or maybe its just my camera! I think its about time to get a new one. =P
Cos I am gangsta' like this!

Dress worn as Tank Top: Cotton On
Shorts: Kitschen

Because I was in such a camwhoring mode that day.

What are your summer essential and favourite products?
Any of the products I mentioned or all of the above? =P

A

FOTD - Au Naturale

IF you have been following me on twitter, you would of probably already known that I have caught the "gym bug" about 1.5 months ago. After "wanting" to join the gym for the past 2.5 years, I have finally committed myself once again (the last time was Fitness First and let's just keep it at "it was shit". shall we?) to a one year gym membership, but this time its with Vclub - which I am enjoying it so far. (not so whenever the soreness hits me, such as now!)

I try to go the gym 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday after work) as I usually stay back for Friday night drinks at work and go out after. Sometimes, I try to go on Saturday, that is IF I could be bothered tracking to  the city (which I have only done twice so far). That means, I have my work make up on most of the time when I hit the gym. I wouldn't say I have a "fully painted face" to work but I do have full make up on *click for my FOTW - working series* - BB cream/tinted moisturizer, concealer, setting powder, eyeshadows, mascara, eyeliner, blush, bronzer, highlighter, lipstick, eyebrows.... you get the drift. I really couldn't be bothered removing ALL my make up before exercising and secondly, I don't usually have much time between walking from work to the gym-the change and my classes. It is probably not a very wise thing to do by clogging your pores up while your sweat is trying to find its way out! Ahhh... we shall keep this for some other day shall we?

So, when I hit the gym during the weekends, I will make sure I have minimum make up on - just to brighten up my face. =)

For my eyes, all I did was fill in my brows (which is probably the MOST important step as it frames your face) and apply 2 generous coats of mascara. =)

I used Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazelnut and Loreal Voluminous Mascara (which has mysteriously disappeared! Now I gotta spring clean my vanity corner to hunt that little thing down!)

For my face, I just applied Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 30+, with minimum amount of Rimmel Hide The Blemishes Concealer and Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

For contouring, I used Maybelline Mineral Blush in True Peach and Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City.

FYI, I don't usually apply lipstick before I exercise. Heck, I don't even reapply after all my lipstick transferred from my lips to my coffee lid LOL. But for the purpose of this post, and just so it's a complete look, I applied Rimmel Moisture Extreme Lipstick in Vintage Pink.

VOILA - Au Naturaleeeee!

I should probably go to work with make up like this instead of trying to be creative with my neutral colours. Maybe one day, when I finally choose beauty sleep over looking pretty LOL.

I know my eyebrows is abit WHOA but that's because I am growing it atm - hence.... gross LOL.
For those of you who hit the gym after work or school, I did like to know whether you remove ALL your make up prior to exercising OR you're a lazy ass like yours truly and exercise with your make up. I know it's not very attractive to have your make up melting like a chocolate lava while you're on a treadmill but fret not, I don't apply heavy face make up and I use good primer prior to applying my eye make up LOL, so I still look pretty presentable after gyming. Or maybe not, cos I will be drenched in sweat. *gross*

(Speaking of which, I saw this *pretty hot* chick touching up her make up and applying lipstick in the change room before exercising. And she turned out to be my "replacement" belly dancing instructor today, which btw, was shit in teaching.)

For those who don't, what are your thoughts on exercising with make up on?

Now that I am done with CFA, expect a more frequent update! I have already had a few posts drafted.
STAY TUNE. :)

A

FOTD - Play On Drum V2

Hello lovelies!!!

How was your weekend? I hope you had a more interesting one than I had.

My weekend was spent studying for my upcoming CFA exam, which I know I am going to fail anyways. I am taking Wednesday - Friday off work to study for a paper I am going to fail, which is, in my opinion, such a waste of annual leave. After spending all weekend studying, I can now say I no longer miss uni life, at least not the studying part! Unfortunately, I have 2 years of studying to go (while working full time, may I add) when I start my CA next year, Oh, the life of an accountant. All these studying and stuff is making me having thoughts about what I really wanna do in life but I shall not bore you guys any further with my quarter life crisis "drama".

As mentioned in my  FOTW - Working Series #5 : Play On Drum post, I am going to share with you guys a more "complicated" look using MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play On Drum.

TBH, it isn't really that much harder, its more like the other one is much easier.

On my EYES
ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
KATE gel eyeshadow in BR-1 (as base)
MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play on Drum
Light Pink from TheFaceShop Jewel Effect Duo (as highlight)
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazelnut
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in Brown
Loreal Voluminous Curved Brush Mascara in Black

I used the peachy colour as an over the lid colour and the copperish brown colour as a crease and outer V colour. I applied more product on my outer V to give the look a better dimension. :)
Also, my lid colour isn't as coral looking as my other FOTD because I used KATE Gel Eyeshadow in BR-1 (which is a champagne-copperish colour) as a base instead of MAC Coral Crepe Paint Pot.

On my FACE
Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer in Light Cream (Review coming soon! :P)
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Silky Beige
Garnier Anti Dark Circles Roll On in light
Maybelline Mineral Powder Naturally Luminous Blush in True Peach
Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether (as highlight)
Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City (bronzer for contouring)

(This is pretty much my face routine everyday right now. I have been replacing BB Cream  with tinted moisturizer and I might use foundation on Friday if I know I am going to stay out after work. Also, Garnier Anti Dark Circles Roll seems to be able to cover my disgusting dark circles lately - just when I thought it did a pretty crap job previously)

On my LIPS
MAC Lipstick in Shy Girl

Look at the dewy finish my Illamasqua Powdered Metal gives me!! It definitely brightens up my otherwise sleepy looking face. :)

Have a great week ahead lovelies!!! :)

XOXO,
A

FOTW - WORKING SERIES #5 - PLAY ON DRUM

WHADDUP EVERYBODYYYY?

Hope you are having a great week so far. This week has been exceptionally slow for me for some reasons but I am glad its FINALLY FRIDAY and its Casual Friday! *YAY* This weekend is gonna be a hardcore cramming session for me though, which is kinda bummer now that Sydney's weather is perfect! Can't wait till my CFA exam is over then it's summer party time babyyyyyy!!! <3

I have been rather lazy this week and creativity is the last thing in my mind this week. Instead of my baby Naked Palette, I have been using my MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play on Drum from Claire's Love Package. =P

Look at how pigmented the colours are! And the best thing about this look is, I only use 2 colours (excluding highlight) and it looks like I have put in heaps of effort when it takes less than 5 minutes! :)

Such a perfect spring/summer colour too!

On my EYES
ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
MAC Coral Crepe Paint Pot
MAC Mineralized Eyeshadow in Play on Drum
NYX Nude Eyeshadow as highlight
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazelnut
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in Brown
Loreal Voluminous Curved Brush Mascara in Black

What I did was using the copperish brown colour as all over the lid colour and wing it out a lil using my flat eyeshadow brush. Then I use the peachy coloured eyeshadow with gold specks in it to blend away the harsh edges up to my crease area.

Also, my eyeshadows seldom crease and I barely use primer before this. But I have been using primer with creme shadow/paint pot lately because I hit the gym after work these days. Creased eye make up is not exactly what I want after a strenuous work out and I cbf remove them.

My current spring/summer favourite blush :
Maybelline Mineral Powder Naturally Luminous Blush in True Peach
Look at the pretty glow it gives and I was surprised with the awesome pigmentation considering that this is a mineral powder blush.

On my FACE
Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer in Light Cream (Review coming soon! :P)
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Silky Beige
Garnier Anti Dark Circles Roll On in light
Maybelline Mineral Powder Naturally Luminous Blush in True Peach
Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether (as highlight)
Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City (bronzer for contouring)

On my LIPS
MAC Lipstick in Shy Girl

I hate my eyebrows now but there's nothing much I can do about it as I am trying to grow them out so I can get it done professionally!

Perfect easy on-the-go spring look! :)

I have been swapping my BB Cream with tinted moisturizer lately as the weather is getting warmer. For those who don't know, I am one who sweat easily and heaps (GROSS I know). The last thing I want is having a faceful of melting foundation when I am out - NOT.A.GOOD.SIGHT! I am learning to accept my freckles better these days :P

This is how I clip my hair up for work when I don't have them up =P

This is definitely my favourite eyelook atm as it is quick and easy! I did try the smokey-outer V look using the same eyeshadows, which requires a little more work. Stay tune for the next post for it :P

What's your favourite lazy days look?

ALSO,
I have created a Through Beauty Eyes Facebook Page a few days ago when I was procrastinating from studying!

Show some love please <33333

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to those who celebrates it! :)

XOXO,
A

FOTW - WORKING SERIES #4 - THE BRONZE HORSEMAN

Goodday! How was everyone's weekend? Its good to finally have some sunshine in Sydney after a pretty chilly week (for November that is). It was a pretty quiet one for me as I spent my Saturday recovering from a nasty hangover (when I didn't even have that much!) and hit the gym for some good work out session. I think its time to monitor my alcohol intake now that I am frequenting the gym more regularly, and apparently your alcohol tolerance decreases as your body built more muscles. Is it trueeeeeee?

ANYWAYS, I haven't posted any "Naked Palette" FOTD ever since I got that baby and I figured its about time. :)

This was the look I created last week using the naked palette. :)
Since its kinda bronzy and one of the colours I used is called Dark Horse, I decided to use The Bronze Horseman as my title. Don't judge me lol.

I haven't been wearing my circle lenses much lately except for the weekends as you're not supposed to wear them for long hours. And for me, from popping my contacts in the morning, getting ready, a whole day at work and gym after - thats a good 14 hours for me. I am pretty sure its not advisable to wear normal contacts for such long hours (14 hours a day, 5 days a week. You do the math), let alone my circle lenses.

On my EYES
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Urban Decay Naked Palette
- Side Car as all over the lids colour
- Dark Horse as outer corner crease colour
- Naked as inner crease colour
- Hustle as outer V colour
- Virgin as browbone colour
- Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner in Black (Upper Lash Line)
- Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Whiskey (Lower Lash Line)
- Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazelnut
- Maybelline Colossal Waterproof Mascara in Black

On my FACE
Etude House Magic BB Cream
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Silky Beige
NYX Concealer in a Jar in Light
Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City
Canmake Powder Cheeks Blusher in PW25
MAC MSF in Candlelight

On my LIPS
Cancer Council Australia Lipstick in Soft Pink (which is actually more of a nude colour)

I kinda like how the "messy" hair up do although it did take me quite a while to create this somewhat messy look.

Naked Palette is definitely my new found love!!!
With 12 different neutral colours, you can go creative with your look without having to be afraid of being to OTT. If you're going out after work or school, simply apply a bold lipstick to brighten up your look. :)

Are you a proud owner of the Naked Palette too?
Do share your FOTDs! I'd love to see them :)

XOXO,
A
