FOTD - Neutral Pop #2

Howdy!

How is everyone's week so far? For my non Sydney-siders readers, it has been boiling hot here in Sydney and we are talking about 34 degrees at 11pm at night. Yeap, as much as I love the beach and getting tanned, the sweltering heat is unbearable!

That aside, I would like to wish all the TBE readers

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

May the year of rabbit be prosperous and awesome for you!!! *And a red pocket would be nice* LOL

CNY 2010
How I wish I was back in Malaysia celebrating CNY at my grandma's with heaps of scrumptious food (think: eating from day to night. I kid you not.)

and the company of my cousins!
(Grandma with her grandkids!)

Instead, I have an 8am start at work tomorrow FML cos it's the first training of the year WITHOUT good food and company and not to forget, no red pockets too. :'(
*One of the 72834729837429384723 reasons why I wish I was a teenager again*

ANYHOOS, enough of me whinging about the weather and not being able to celebrate CNY like a true Chinese LOL.
I realised I haven't been posting much FOTDs as of late. Well, reason being - it has been ridiculously hot here in Sydney and the last thing I want is spending time creating an awesome look, only to have it melting 5 minutes later. I have been going with really simple neutral eyes look, mostly using my Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Ether as my over-the-lid colour with eyeliner (check it out HERE) .

My usual " neutral " look?
Since I was *somewhat* suffering from Monday Blues, I decided to add a POP of colour to this otherwise boring but awesome may I add neutral eyes.

TA-DA!!! - Neutral Pop Look. :)

On my EYES
ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
MAC Let It Pop Paint Pot (from Cham Tale collection)
Wet & Wild Vanity Palette
Wet & Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner in Black
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencil in Blue
Maybelline Hello Kitty Volume Mascara
Shu Uemura Eyebrow Pencil in Hard

On my FACE
Garnier Anti Dark Circle Roll On in Light
Cancer Council Australia Tinted Moisturizer in Creme Beige
MAC MSF Powder in Medium
Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset City
Maybelline Mineral Blush in True Peach
MAC MSF in Candlelight (from In the Groove collection)

On my LIPS
MAC Lipstick in Jazzed (from In the Groove collection)

I am absolutely loving my tan right now!!! And it doesn't look as dark and as orange in real life! I think the flash makes me look tanner and orange-r.

So, I haven't really been testing out PhotoBooth ever since I got my baby Mac Book Pro 2 weeks ago! Hence, I decided to revive my camwhore bug in me yesterday after gym. :)

PS: I look no where as made up as I was at the beginning of the day. I removed all my face make up before exercising as the last thing I want is mixing all my toxic excretion (read: sweat) with my make up. Not cool, kids. And my eye make up is usually half gone after my intensive work out. So yeap, hold and behold, don't get the shock out of your life!

I think less make up = Adeline looks like a kiddo.

I think this is a better reflection of my tan right now?

Sulking cos it was mutha-effingly hot last night!

SNEAK PEAK FOR NEXT POST :)

SWAP WITH GWEN
(And story on how I have been swap-lifted by someone whom I thought was genuinely nice and sweet)

Alright kids, I gotta go and prepare for training tomorrow (super duper triple EW), have an ICY COLD SHOWER to cool myself down and maybe do some reorganising (from my spring summer cleaning over the weekend) and bedtime. 8am start FML

XOXO,
A

FOTD - Neutral Pop ft Milani Liquif'eye in Aqua

As mentioned in this post, Pixie Epoxy didn't work that well with the Fyrinnae Loose Shadows for me. I have yet to do my research on youtube but one of my readers left a comment saying I shouldn't leave it on for more than 5 seconds. I am yet to try out as I am into bold lips at the moment, hence toning down on my eyes make up.

This time, I decided to try Fyrinnae Loose Shadows with NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil as a base. I am using Cottage Cheese here along with Nijiro. I decided to gently pat the product on one eye and brush the product on another and here is the outcome:

By BRUSHING
As you can tell from the photo, the NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil didn't catch much of the products and its kinda lumpy.

By gently PATTING onto my eye lids
On the contrary, the loose eyeshadow was captured better through the patting motion. Way better in fact and there's no lumpy effect. There are more fallouts than brushing though. Albeit the colour is much more pigmented here, you can't really see the shimmer sparkle bits here.

However, it does seems pretty shimmery and bright with the completed eye look, whaddaya think?

Neutral "POP" eyes :)
Decided to add a little "flavour" to the typical earthy neutral smokey eyes by lining my lower lash line with an Aqua Blue liner.

On my EYES
NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Cottage Cheese (as a base for loose eye shadows)
Fyrinnae Loose Shadow in Nijiro (all over the lid colour)
EyeRockz Mineral Eyeshadow in Seductive ( outer V and crease)
NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk (highlight)
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Black
Milani Liquif'eye Metalic Eyeliner Pencil in Aqua
L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes in Brown
ELF Eyebrow Kit in Medium

On my FACE
Dermablend Cover Creams in Natural Beige (as concealer and foundation)
Physician Formula 100% Natural Origin Matte Finishing Veil in Translucent Veil
Canmake Powder Cheeks in PW25 ( A GORGEOUS coral colour blush with shimmer bits - one of my favourites at the moment! =P )

With natural light
On my LIPS
Barry M Lip Paint in 129 (aka Palest Lavender if I am not mistaken)

Had fun camwhoring cos I was having good hair day =P If only eveyday is a good hair day.

I don't usually wink for a reason - cos this is the best I can go. =.=" *FAIL much?*

How can I miss the good ol' Asian-peace-sign post? LOL

Have a great week beauties! :)

FOTD - Neutral "Flipside" Pop

Hello lovelies,

How was your weekend? I had an awesome time, although my liver and thighs probably hated me for that. Oh well, detox plan starts tomorrow, and hopefully exercising too. It's takes you 1 day to break a routine you took 3 weeks to build. No doubt about that.

I am trying to catch up with my FOTDs and a couple of review & swatches coming up. I have been having a hard time editing my photos as my shit ass ASUS keeps shutting down on me after editing every 2 photos. Yeap, it was that bad. :(

This Neutral Pop FOTD was from Flo's birthday last weekend (as in a week ago, not 24 hours ago), which I haven't done in a while. It's perfect for days when you don't want to have overly dramatic eye make up but you want something funkier than the everyday neutral smokey look.

As it was only dinners and drinks, I opted for the more natural criss-cross falsies, which I absolutely *heart*.

* close up *

On my EYES
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Alice in the Wonderland BoS Palette
-Muchness (Lid Colour)
-Vorpal (Crease Colour)
-Mad Hatter ( Outter V)
Midnight Tea Party (Inner Tear Duct Area)
NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Cottage Cheese
Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Black (Upper Lash Line)
Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Flipside (Lower Lash Line)
Random Asian Falsies from Malaysia
Rimmel Glam Eyes Lash Flirt Mascara in Black
ELF Eyebrow Kit in Medium

- This is the only close up "face" photo I got all night. *fail* -

On my FACE
Rimmel Hide the Blemishes Concealer Stick in Ivory
Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in Natural Beige
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Ivory Light
Chi Chi Mosaic Bronzer in Dark
Prestige Baked Mineral Blush in Pink

On my LIPS
MAC Viva Glam Gaga
Barry M Lipgloss

I paired this leopard printed top with jeans and my thigh high boots.=)

Ze birthday girl! <3

Do you prefer the good ol' neutral smokey look? Or are you a fan of that little "pop" to the entire look?

FOTD - Simple Everyday Neutral Smokey Look

You guys can probably tell by my Reasons to get the 88 Warm Neutral Palette post, that I am all into earthy, neutral colours unless I am attending a special event or themed party, which is extremely rare. Hence, my looks always revolve around neutral colours.

On my EYES
Etude House Petite Darling Range Cream Shadow in Sunshine Beige (as a base)
88 Warm Colour Palette (Champagne colour for lid colour)
Sports Girl Shady Lady Eye Colour in Tiny Dancer (Inner tear duct up to the middle of my crease)
Revlon Matte Eyeshadow in Ombre (Outer crease)
Prestige Shadow in Suede (Highlight colour)
Maybelline waterproof liquid eyeliner in black (Upper lash line)
Sports Girl Draw the Line Eyeliner in Purple
Rimmel Max Volume Flash Mascara in Ultra Black
Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Pencil in Grey

On my FACE
Etude House Magic BB Cream
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Ivory Light
ELF Studio Blush in Peachy Keen (my current favourite!)

On my LIPS
Lucas Papaw Ointment ( I was running late to work so I didn't have time to pick a lip colour before snapping a few quick shots for TBE)

- With flash-

-Natural Light-

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

I created the same look again the next day cos I really like the peachy-brown crease colour, along with the purple eyeliner on my lower lash line. Except this time, I went with a darker lip colour.

I am using Elizabeth Arden Exceptional Lipstick in Dessert Rose for my lips.

And everything else is the same as above.

I am starting to appreciate this colour better as I am currently into bolder lips, instead of the usual barbie pink or nude lips (which brings me to my next FOTD post. Stay tune for that :D)

:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:+:

This is me, grimacing to the ridiculously temperamental weather here in Sydney. The temperature can go to as low as 10 degrees early in the morning but it gets warm and cosy during midday at approximately 22-23 degrees. It gets annoying sometimes when you have to pack on layers just so you don't freeze to death and having to remove them later on in the day cos it gets too warm. Ahhhh well......

Have a great weekend my dear lovelies! :)

Reasons to love the 88 Warm Colour Palette.

Let's start with the obvious - this is probably one of the most value for money palette in the market. I paid A$ 34.95 for it from Crush Cosmetics. I think Coastal Scents is selling for less than $30 but I reckon after all the exchange rate and shipping, it probably worked out to be about the same.
35 bucks for 88 colours? And you're able to create 84023802348023482084023 looks from these 88 colours. If you don't think this is value for money, well I don't think we can be friends anymore.

Money matters aside, the colours are REALLY pigmented and long lasting. My make up stayed all day (approx 10-12 hours) without using any primer. I do however, use cream shadow as a base.
- Note: This might vary depending on your skin type. I have EXTREMELY dry skin, hence creasing is never really a problem for me unless I have been sweating profusely (which is usually never the case unless I am clubbing =.=") -

The only downside of this palette is the eyeshadow is a little chalky. So be sure to dab off any excess before applying or else you're probably gonna have to spend some time cleaning away the fall offs.

ANYWAYS,

What happens most of the morning is, I open my palette, stare at it for a good 2 minutes and decide the "colours of the day" depending on my mood, and start applying them. Unless I am going on a hot date, it is highly unlikely that I will paint a "look" in my head before applying them. It's about spontaneity and creativity, folks!

Here are few of the 84023802348023482084023 looks that you're able to create from this palette:

MATTE LATTE

For starters, it allows you to create the simplest yet gorgeous neutral - everyday look.

GOLDEN SANCTUARY

Matte is not really your cup of tea? Fret not. There are more than a handful of shimmery colours which allows you to create a brighter look. =P

Instead of the usual, boring black liner, you can always opt for a coloured one. And for this look here, I decided to go with a gold eyeliner by Rimmel to intensify the "goldness" of the look. I have also applied some shimmery silver colour in the inner tear duct area to brighten up the look. Reckon it's a little too shimmery to be your everyday look?

Not when you put on your favourite pair of glasses :) Like mentioned in my previous posts, I have been trying to pull off the sexy secretary look wearing glasses pretty often in the past 2 weeks as I have to get up early for work. One of the perks of wearing glasses is, I get to experiment with different looks (even the slightly more dramatic ones) without feeling too over the top as the glasses will divert the attention away from the make up. =)

Remember, wearing glasses doesn't spell ugly. All you need is a more shimmery look which stands out behind those sexy, thick frames.

PLUM WINE

Believe it or not, this look took me less than 15 minutes to create. Only 2 colours were used here - a champagne colour with shimmer & a dark plum colour (matte) and its all about blending baby.

SMOKE ME UP #1

SMOKE ME UP #2

These are just part of the looks I have created ever since I laid my hands on this palette. And the other half of them, well, I probably forgotten to snap a few shots. They look kinda similar but they are not.=P Hope you guys like it and have a great weekend, lovelies!

What's your favourite palette and favourite look? Leave a comment below and share the love. =)

Disclaimer: The 88 Warm Colour Palette was purchased using my own money and I am not affliated with the company mentioned above.

A
